kinfish Posted April 27, 2008 Share #1 Posted April 27, 2008 What is the secret to removing a 37 year old filler hose between the gas access door and the fuel tank on a Series I 240Z? Can you remove it without removing the fuel tank? Is it removed by pulling it outboard or pushing it inboard? This tube has a molded tee on it for the tube that runs from the vapor tank to the filler. I am trying to get access to a small rust spot under the flange near the access door.
geezer Posted April 27, 2008 Share #2 Posted April 27, 2008 They become very pliable once heated evenly with a heat gun or hair blower.
EScanlon Posted April 28, 2008 Share #3 Posted April 28, 2008 Once it's pliable, and be careful doing that, hair dryer ok, heat gun...very iffy, torch definitely out, then the top flange the one in the gas fill area gets pushed IN to the body, and then it gets slipped off the tank neck. Once you slip it off the tank, then you can remove the lower flange that seals the bottom portion.HTHE
