2008 MSA West Coast Nationals - Great Show

Just got back from the MSA show. Same location and format as last year - separate areas for each Z model. I counted 94 240Zs at midday - probably more came in later. Pretty hot out there today but worth it. THANKS MSA !

Met some of the members from this Board, Hybrid Z, and Z-Car.com - nice talking to you all. The guy staged next to me had an 828 hp SBC in his car - sorta made my announcement that I have SM needles in my SUs a bit underwhelming! At least we could swap stories about when I ran a 331ci SBC in my car from '77 to '82.

All in all - a good show - they keep getting better. And it seems like the quality of the cars keeps getting better as well.

Yeah, it was great, we got stuck in that line for a while, but even that was great, we met a bunch of Z lovers and took some great pictures. I even got a busines card from Fred Jordan, the first Datsun dealer in the U.S. He had a 1980 with Mr K's autograph on the glove box. He said they had been friends for 40 years! It was great meeting all those Z owners and a few people from this club. It was great.

Glad the show was a good one!! I sure missed it this year. Definitely something in the works for next year as I can plan more in advance.

Did anyone take photos? Can you upload them to our gallery so the less-fortunate people can see some of the cool stuff ? :D

Good meeting you yesterday while we were in line for refreshments. It was another awesome year. My girl and I had a blast. I've been going to the West Coast Nationals since the 3rd annual event in 98. It gets better every year!

I really enjoyed talking to you about Our Z's at MSA. It was nice to have someone understand that everyone has the right to build a Z exactly the way they want without some purist denigrading that decision. Yes, I may have gone "a little wild" with a twin turbo v8 in my Z but that's what pleases me. Yet, on the other hand, I totally respect someone elses decision to correctly and painstakingly restore their stock Z.

Thanks for being a great neighbor, your Z is very impressive.

Yeah it great meeting you, too. I'm hoping to start seeing a lot of the same people next year and maybe even at other events, too.

Oh come on Hanns, what's 820+hp in a Z? I wouldn't call that a little wild! Also, from 10 feet back it looks pretty bone stock, unless the engines running! I bet there's many a Mustang, Camaro, etc. that is still trying to figure out how a 240z kicked their butt....

Great seeing you yesterday and congrats on the win!

Best,

Bob

Hi Hanns,

Nothing wrong with "more power" ! As we discussed, back in 1977, before 3.1 liter engines and fuel injected turbo L6s, when I wanted "more power" - I added a bit of V-8 juice !

Enjoy the ride (and your's is only about 9.5 seconds !).

I had an awesome time meeting everyone that I could. Wayne--Goose52, Russel--(Buckwalter), Eric--Mister Cheese, The guy next to me with the prototype Lambo doors, and everyone else. We pulled in the driveway about 10:30 pm tonight. 1200 miles in ANY other car, would have sucked. 800 watts in the stereo and I prefered to listen to the motor and exhaust the whole way home........

I posted pics in the 08' MSA gallory. Hope I got some of your cars in there.

Dave.
