Posted May 6, 200816 yr comment_246453 I'd like to replace the stock muffler with a over/under twin tip similar to the old Ansa design. Does anyone carry such a thing anymore ? If so, who ? If not, what other popular options are there ? I'd like a more aggressive sound and a better looking tip than the stock setup. I'd also need to know what diameter the pipe leading into the stock muffler is so I can ensure I have the correct slip on tip. Thanks for any help! Thanks for any help! The stock exhaust I removed from my '73 was 1 3/4'' and I am fairly sure the '72 was the same size. May 7, 200816 yr Author comment_246590 Hi again, Thanks for the help guys, I'll check out the Monza and Pacesetter exhaust systems and see if anything looks good. I do like the classic over/under Ansa tip look, you'd think there would be knock offs of those readily available, but most anything I've found has the tip angle cut so the pipes would need to be side by side and not over/under. Anyhoo, I'll keep looking and let ya'll know what I settle on. 78Datsun280Z, yup we're crusin' the same streets. I'll keep and eye open for ya ! May 8, 200816 yr Author comment_246658 Well, I found what I wanted on the Black Dragon site, it part number 89-300http://www.blackdragonauto.com/icatalog/z/full.asp?page=67Really all I want is the tip and Pace Setter won't sell it seperately, but they did say that it's part number 812222. The whole system is $300 including shipping, and that seems extreme when all I need is the tip. I've scoured the net and I can't seem to find anyone that even sells the complete 240Z kit other than BD. Anyone have any ideas where I can buy just the tip ? May 8, 200816 yr comment_246673 I don't believe Pace Setter/Monza sells that tip by itself anymore. If they ever did. I doesn't show on their site. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28015-exhaust-tip/#findComment-246673 Share on other sites
May 8, 200816 yr Author comment_246684 I don't believe Pace Setter/Monza sells that tip by itself anymore. If they ever did. I doesn't show on their site. That's what I discovered this morning. They'ed sell more if they did, but hey, it's their business. I ordered the whole thing and plan to just put the pipe away for now. Thanks all. May 13, 200816 yr comment_247179 I've seen these tips at Pep Boys in the past. I also think J.C. Whitney and Jegs sells the tips. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28015-exhaust-tip/#findComment-247179 Share on other sites
May 13, 200816 yr comment_247183 Maybe you've seen something like it but not a twin over/under slash cut Monza tip by itself because they never made one from what I've seen. May 17, 200816 yr Author comment_247730 I got the Black Dragon 89-300 Monza pipe and stuck the tip on today. It sounds good and throaty. The pipe they send is larger diameter than the stock one, so I had to wrap the stock pipe a bit to get the tip to fit. I'll put the new pipe on later when I can take it to a shop. May 17, 200816 yr comment_247752 That's actually a system, not a tip. The rear section is designed to fit over the front section so naturally it would be larger than the stock pipe.
