240Z to 280ZX Disti Upgrade Plug On eBay?

Hi all,

I am about to swap an '83zx engine and 5 speed into the 240z (will swap my SU setup to the L28) and was wondering if anybody has used this connector/plug to do the conversion to the '83 electronic ignition. It seems like a very clean and simple way to go.

The other question is "can I buy this outright from one of our vendors"? I would rather buy it than bid on it.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,

Tim

Umm. That plug (as I of all people well know) as to adapt the ZX alternator to a 240Z, not the distributor.

Aw man!!! I should not be surfing the web after I have been at work for 10 hours - things just don't sink in! :stupid:

Sorry guys! Major brain fart there (and I DO know the difference between the alternator and disti... LOL ).

Thanks for all of the info - he is now on my "DO NOT BUY FROM" list!

Go get em' Arne! I HATE people that do that crap! I will go to your website and buy it! I would have done that before, but did not realize it was available through you/Dave.

Thanks again - learning more about these cars on a daily basis. :cross-eye

He just bought a bunch of stuff made by Zs-ondabrain. And is reselling them, so if you can buy them from Zs-ondabrain instead.

Thanks Mr. Camo. I will be looking for one of these adapters and will most likely get the lighting upgrade harnesses (if they will work on the early 240)!

Thanks again!

Yes, Dave's products work on early 240Zs. My car is fully equipped with them. (Except the LED lighting.)

I got the plug from Dave here, did the zx internally regulated alternator swap on my 240z, Easy as pie. Dave is great to work with and a resource we're luck to have.

I also use a zx distributor (electronic ignition). Then I put the "guts" from a zx tachometer into the case and bezel from the original (240z) tachometer, wired the back so the plug would work (it's pretty obvious what you need to do when you look at the two) and it works like a charm.

Pertronix, MSD, or other option work well, but I thought this was the "simplest" all-Nissan way to go with electronic ignition and have a reliable tachomter, and leave/use much of the OE harness. Once the parts were sourced, it was easy and performs great.

Good luck with the swap - go for it!

I'd like to chime in to sing Dave's praise, as well. I hope he sticks around for a long time!

He will very shortly be receiving my rebuildable cores for the combo switch, and will be sending me the headlight harness upgrade kit. I can hardly wait!

I already have the ZX alternator diode upgrade, and the ZX (e12-80) upgrade, but paired with the orig. Series I tach.
