Posted May 16, 200816 yr comment_247673 Ok... Trying to hit two topics on one post. Is there a diffirence between the harmonic balancer on an AC equiped car versus a non AC car. And... I have a little valve tap goin on when the car warms up.... Is that normal. I have heard others with the same noise. I come from the world of american made iron and am not used to the Z cars yet. Just learning the ins and outs. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28134-harmonic-balancer-and-valve-noise/ Share on other sites
May 17, 200816 yr comment_247708 There is a difference in the harmonic balancer on early Z cars. Not sure about post-73 years. No, valve clatter is not normal. You need to check/adjust valve lash per the FSM. Having said that, you CAN hear some light valve train noise, but mine sounds the same cold or hot.Frank Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28134-harmonic-balancer-and-valve-noise/#findComment-247708 Share on other sites

May 17, 200816 yr comment_247726 Apart from having an extra pulley on the crank damper, the ignition timing marks are located in a different place. Take this into account if you are mix and matching:ermm: Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28134-harmonic-balancer-and-valve-noise/#findComment-247726 Share on other sites
