There's a 89-90 GTPZXT sitting in RI and the guy wanted $40k a few years back.

The reason is two-fold. One there is no class to run the car in now and two it would take $100-200K minimum to get it track ready. I'll beat many of the parts are missing and most are one-offs.

Plus there is the issue of driving it. It was a beast then and I'm sure it is still now.

Even 40k is surprising to me, John. I would think way higher than that. But the only thing to do with the car is vintage race it and there are a couple of the GTP cars doing that now. It takes pretty much a full time mechanic or two and a rig far more elaborate than a trailor behind the station wagon! Awesome beasts they were! Those cars generated so much downforce that it was difficult to keep tires on them. Was it Bob Akin who was killed in one of these at Road Atlanta? Vintage racing at Road Atlanta?

"On April 25, 2002, he was gravely injured in a violent crash while testing a powerful 1988 Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo for the Walter Mitty Challenge for historic cars at Road Atlanta. His injuries included a broken neck, left leg, left shoulder and right arm, along with third-degree burns over 15 percent of his body. He was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital after the accident. After briefly rallying, the 66 year old succumbed due to complications from his injuries on April 29, 2002."

And he had a clue how to drive cars like this (2-time Sebring winner driving a Porsche 935 & 962)...

I figure I might make about as far as turn 2 if I'm lucky...would be a fun turn 1 though...
