sblake01 Posted May 30, 2008 Share #3 Posted May 30, 2008 No, Hedley Lamarr is correct. That's the name of the character he played in Blazing Saddles. You're thinking of Hedy Lamarr, the actress.

BRE-240Z Posted May 30, 2008 Share #6 Posted May 30, 2008 On NPR this morning, they played a clip from the 'Went With The Wind' skit (a parody of 'Gone With The Wind') from the old Carol Burnett Show. Hilarious stuff.....
John Coffey Posted May 30, 2008 Share #7 Posted May 30, 2008 No, Hedley Lamarr is correct. That's the name of the character he played in Blazing Saddles. You're thinking of Hedy Lamarr, the actress. You forgot the "It's Hedley, not Hedy!" gag that Harvey had to say throughout the movie.
lonetreesteve Posted May 30, 2008 Share #8 Posted May 30, 2008 I was also saddened to hear of Harvey's passing. He was also the voice of "Gazoo", the alien from the planet Zetox who appeared in the final season of "The Flintstones" 1965-66.
Arne Posted May 30, 2008 Share #9 Posted May 30, 2008 Blazing Saddles was OK, but many of the skits on the Carol Burnett Show with Harvey, Carol, Tim and Vikki are true timeless comedy. I could watch those over and over. Harvey (and the others) was not just a comedian, he was a true showman. He will be missed.
MikeW Posted May 31, 2008 Share #10 Posted May 31, 2008 Blazing Saddles was OK, but many of the skits on the Carol Burnett Show with Harvey, Carol, Tim and Vikki are true timeless comedy.Even though I watched some of those as a kid one in particular still cracks me up when I think about it. Tim Conway was dressed up as a football referee and about to make the penalty call to the television camera. The sound isn't working and you see (but not hear) him talking as he fiddles with the audio transmitter on his belt. While his mouth is moving but still with no sound you suddenly hear him say "amn thing on?"I wish I could find it on youtube as it's been probably 30 years.
