value of parts

Hello everyone,

I hope that people can help me. I have some spare parts that I am thinking of selling to get money to further work on my car and am not sure how much they are worth. I have 4 oringinal steel wheels (I am sure the tires aren't original), 2 original spares (I don't know if the tires are original), a hood in nice shape, a rear hatch, a replacement quarter panel steel thats new (drivers side), a lower rear valence replacement, and potentially replacement floor pans with the supports. One of the big problems is always the cost and work of shipping the parts. I really appreciate peoples input. Thanks again,

I have pondered the same dilemma going on 2 years now. I have a plethora of OEM stock parts. I have sold fenders from $45 to $85, and shipping has always been north of $80 (out of state).

For steel wheels I would ask $20/pc if in good condition. Aren't spares full size steelies?

I have been trying to off load my hoods and hatches, but shipping is always the crux. I have never tried to get a quote on those, but I know that 2 seats shipped from Los Angeles to Sacramento cost $115, with a shipping weight of 79 lbs. I would assume a hood and hatch would cost near the same.

I have seen rear 1/4 panels go for around $150-$200.

I don't know about the rear valance, but I recently let a front valance go for $45.

Look up Zed Findings for an idea regarding the costs of the floor pans.

I guess it all boiles down to this: how much is the part worth to you "right now" and how badly do you need new/better parts for your project?

Look at using Greyhound Package Express for shipping those large items like hatches and hoods, etc. You will find it a lot cheaper and less hassle. You an cover the edges with cardboard and stretch-wrap around the whole thing and not need to crate or box. The buyer would to pick it up at the bus terminal. fyi

I use to own a music store and I sold a lot of items. I found the Post Office was the cheapest. It took longer, it was worth the effort. You might check it out.

My son shipped his 510 hood today by Greyhound from Richmond to N.Y. for $47.00. He called the local Ford dealer and asked that they save him a new replacement hood box( the dealer body shop ). They had him a nice box with styrafoam holders in 4 or 5 days( no charge). Heck of a lot easier than making a box!
