Posted August 28, 200222 yr comment_14279 Well, I was spending yesterday changing to the 4-piston Toyota Calipers for my 72 240z. However, the metal lines from the caliper to the hose were really rusted and I ended up rounding the heads on both sides and ended up haveing to cut one of the lines in half to get it off. I can't seem to be able to get these lines anywhere though! I tried napa, and they don't sell metric ones...I tried our Nissan dealership, and they see only one side available and its $30! Thats freakin $60 for the pair, I ain't gonna pay that! Then I tought maybe this wasn't the correct metal brake line, maybe they had the one for the master cylinder one, so does anyone here have the part number of the lines I need? Or does anyone know where else I could get them? Would perhaps the ones for the Toyota trucks, that I got the calipers off of, be any cheaper, or the even the same thing? Maybe I could make them work if they are cheaper and easier to get. Or if someone out there has a pair they would sell me for a reasonable price please let me know, I am without a car until I get them, so I need them really soon! Thanks! August 29, 200222 yr comment_14301 If you can't source this part at an autoparts store, maybe you could get one from a junkyard off a similar vehicle. Not certain about this but I would guess this line is the same for 240, 260 or 280's. Good luck! August 29, 200222 yr comment_14303 Hi there, If you don’t want to buy the factory ones, you can always get a brakes specialist workshop to make you some that are the right length and then you can buy a bending tool to make them fit the same of the car body.Otherwise take them off the car and bring the whole lot to them (including the bit you cut off) and they can bend it the same as the factory ones. But I doubt it would be any cheaper than the factory one, they might be!!!Good luck. August 29, 200222 yr comment_14304 I have purchased brake tubing at Kragen auto parts comes in 1 to 4 foot lenghts. Then you bend it to suit the need. I would suggest a tubing bender for the tight bends of the front setup. August 29, 200222 yr comment_14305 Also note that there are two types of lines available (the factory only uses steel ones)1) steel 2) copper/brass?? go with the steel ones as they dont "flex" as I've been told that the other ones (2) can do so.But the 2) are easier to bend if you don't have the proper tools!!! August 30, 200222 yr comment_14370 For future reference go to AutoZone. NAPA sucks. AutoZone carries steel metric brake line. Sections are 8, 12, 20, 30, 40, 51, or 60 inches long. They carry them in these lengths with country style fittings ie: Japan, British, European, and one other that I can't recall.Nate :cross-eye Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/2836-brake-conversion-problems-need-metal-line/#findComment-14370 Share on other sites
