Posted June 9, 200816 yr comment_250246 Hey Guys, I'm Allen. I bought my 71' 240 about 2 years ago for $500. It had been sitting in the snow for 6 years so i figured i was in for a big rust project. So 2 years have gone by and it has been sitting in the back corner of my Uncles shop in Hawthorne ever since i got it. Just last weekend we started to completely strip her down. We went from a full car to just a shell (no glass, no hatch, no doors, no nothing) in 2 days and it should be going to the sand blaster this week. Suprisingly, there is very little rust on the car, the hatch is the worst part but it shouldn't be too hard to find a replacement. As far as the motor goes, along with the car the guy threw in a rebuilt L24, all in pieces but everything had just been checked for flatness and was good to go for rebuilding. So thats ready to get started. But i'm having doubts about keeping the L24, seems that i could easily swap in an LS1 or possibly a 20B if i can get my hands on it, but then again i wouldn't be keeping the car mostly original. Good side on the L24 is that its there, I have all the parts, and its ready to be thrown together and throw in the car. As for paint we might go a two tone black / red or just a solid red. I'd like to get the paint color / code from the red Z in the picture below. That red owns. Well sorry for the long winded post, heres some pics of how i found the car, ill put some pics of it stripped when the get sent over to me from my uncle... Anyone know Specs on this car / the color code? Its also in this video @ 1:45 http://youtube.com/watch?v=SImek_aRMNY Thanks guys. -Allen Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28376-new-to-classic-z/ Share on other sites
