I have a 1976 nissan 280z And I cant get it to start i replaced the injectors ,fuel pump ,fuel filter, spark plugs and cables the only way acan get it to runn for about 30 seconds is if i put fuel directly into the intake but my fuel pump does not get any current and i connected straight to the battery but it wont keep the car running i dont have any current to the distribuitor and i was thinking that it might be the transistor ign every fuse has been checked and all of the are fine i cant keep on guessing i think that i checked every possible cable and fuse.

I believe you probably have a couple problems. The first thing that popped out at me is the fact that the Fuel Pump is hooked directly to the battery. I would first confirm that the wiring is connected at both ends without any breaks along the way. A continuity test would be best for this. The next thing I would suggest is running a ground back to the battery, to test the pump itself. It should run then. Check the fuel filter is clean, and make sure the fuel lines are not pinched anywhere. You should probably blow air (no more than 50 PSI) through them, make sure there are no blockages if you are really concerned.

I would say that you most likely have just an electrical issue, and if you just recently bought the car, it might have quite a few gremlins in it. I've noticed that generally these cars have a lot of quick fixes to the electrical system, instead of a quality fix. Check the wiring harness, and you might be interested in purchasing new harnesses if you find a lot that shouldn't be there.
