Hey guys, my name is J.J. I bought my Z when i was 17 and my Lincoln continental was totalled. I took the 2 grand from that, bought myself a 1979 280zx i saw in the paper for $1000 and then spent the other $1000 plus my entire savings fixing it up. I've never looked back. It now runs like a champ except for a few clunks in the rear when i shift and accelerate, but i'm looking into that thanks to all the information on this site :D I've been fixing my car up myself so be looking for me in the Car Tech forum because i'll probably be needing some advice =P

Welcome to the club.

All you should need to fix that clunk is a new diff insulator. But check all the driveshaft and half shaft universals first for any play or wear.

Have a look at this earlier thread.

Good luck.

Got my first Z when I was 15, I am now 20. Got my First Running Z on my 17th birthday. But she was a very sick car... Came with a strong L28. That is soon to be Residing in my 75 280z.

I Own 6 Z cars.

1971 240z (parts)

1972 240z (Parts)

1973 240z (future project ? )

1974 260z. (destroyed but still have what is left.)

1975 280z. (current project "The unnatural one")

1985 300zxt (got a good deal)

My name is Bill Ramsey and I'm addicted to Z.

*grins* Gratz on the Z, my sympathies, and condolences to your other hobbies, Z cars seem to be all-consuming!

But in such a wonderful way...

I'm not addicted! Twitching when you're not near your Z is normal!

...

I'm not addicted!...

ClaZZic Z denial....

Z-itus there is no cure, but the treatment:

Buy another Z and look for another one in the morning...

Will
