Seems like WAY TO MUCH MONEY for a simple cosmetic part...as there is no over the counter airfilter that will fit is as is, and it isn't tuned for any application.

No, Stephen, you are not alone...Carbon fiber used for advantage is a good thing to me, Carbon Fiber used primarily for cosmetic appearance is RICE!!!

This piece is for a tripple carb setup, not the stock dual carbs, so I suppose it does have a specific purpose, but it costs more than each of the two sets of tripple webbers I have...

What does the stock air box have to do with anything? This is for triple carburetors and has nothing to do with stock. The point here is to run a hose to a cold air source and get cooler air into the engine. Denser colder air makes more power.

As to the looks or the price, I won't judge those, but it seems to me like some of you don't understand what you're looking at.

Carbon fiber is light, and race cars are weight sensitive, so it does make sense to use carbon fiber. Carbon fiber appliques are rice. Poorly done carbon fiber is ricey. Carbon fiber door panels are ricey. Using lightweight RACE parts on a RACE car is not ricey.

I agree with all your points.

The point of my post was that many of the "rice" c-fibre parts being sold are actually heavier than thier sheetmetal counterparts, unlike the race quality parts you reference. Many after-market hoods are a good example of this.

Opps! Forgot to mention he is also selling a stock c-fibre air box...

Doubtful you will sell one of these by posting here, but who knows. It certainly is at the upper end of the spectrum, when it comes to performance gains per dollar spent. I am just curious if the increased strength and therefore less bellowing/flexing of this piece lends itself to a measureable gain of performance. I am building one myself, but from different materials. I can appreciate this one, but couldn't justify the cost for my use.

1. light weight, even able to reduce the weight of your wallet! it weighs 1.75 LBS.

2. Heat insulator, it WILL keep air temps down compared to a metal air box

This was designed FOR the 240z and triple carbs, not universal. It was designed for a customer who had the ugly fiberglass TWM piece that cost $450. And it is intended to attach a hose with a filter infront of the radiator for cold air intake. The box has a rubber seal to keep it leak proof. This also keeps you from running short filters and air horns. I run 2.5" air horns on my race car. Here are some more photos of cold air system on race car, but I have done similar on street car.
