I've got a '76 260z with (I'm assuming) the stock carbs fitted. My problem is that the engine varies it's idle speed during normal driving. Example: Stop at one set of lights and it idles at 750rpm, next intersection it might idle at below 500 and the next it might go above 1000! Checked the accelerator linkage and throttles on both carburettors for sticking but all seems to be fine. I'm assuming it's a problem with my carburettors, not sure. I've tuned them but it didn't help. Can anyone please give some advice?

Cheers.

Also I might add this:

Realised they are the stock carbs (flat tops) with the anit-pollution stuff taken off. Perhaps the person that took it off hasn't done it properly..?

I have a set of reconditioned Jaguar XJ6 SU's. Should I just stick them on there? A bit worried I might stuff it up though...

Mwa!

First of all, welcome to the site, Pixie! With all due respect, let me just say, when I opened this thread and saw your avitar, my day immediately got better! But, enough of that. You might want to take a look at this thread which talks about a member that was experiencing a similar problem.
