June 26, 200816 yr Author comment_252028 The worked head option is definitely sounding quite appealing, be it Sunbelt or any other shop that has experience with the L motor. A different head would not be out of the question either because a head would be a whole lot easier to move and store than an entire engine. So maybe I should just grab a better flowing head, go with the port and polish, maybe bigger valves???, hotter cam, bore the block .xxx, better ignition, headers and exhaust.Could save quite a bit. Anybody have any head stories or recommendations? Rebello is by far the most widely known name in Datsun performance builds, but I do like the idea of going with an East Coast builder too.I am popping in a 5spd and the diff could use a rebuild too. June 27, 200816 yr comment_252099 I'll be keenly interested in how you make out. What's never been clear to me was if Rebello or Sunbelt could build a head and ship to you as exchange for your old head (CORE) - I am assuming they do, but I don't see any information on either site that this is an option. June 27, 200816 yr comment_252119 Greetings,In what Grassroots Motorsport Magazine (GRM) issue number is the article on the 2.7L or the L series head built up to extract extra power. I will like to read a bit more on the topic.Respectfully,Alex Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28531-any-experience-with-the-27-l/?&page=2#findComment-252119 Share on other sites
June 27, 200816 yr Author comment_252147 Alex, It was a multi-issue build in GRM's sister publication Classic Motorsports. I'm in the middle of moving right now so I don't have access to my back issues... but when I find them I will let you know, that is if someone doesn't beat me to it Nate Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28531-any-experience-with-the-27-l/?&page=2#findComment-252147 Share on other sites

June 28, 200816 yr comment_252211 I saw that car at the Mitty a few years ago and John Williams did a very nice job. In all likelihood he will be running at the ARRC this November if you wanted to make the trip to Road Atlanta to meet him and go by Balanced Performance/Sunbelt. January 25, 200916 yr comment_272006 Hey Coastie,I know im late in the game but i have a 3.0 Rebello motor for my car. I didnt care about numbers matching, just wanted more power. With the 3.0, it got alot more power! Mostly in the torque area. If your in the SF area, hit me up and ill give you a ride in my car. Rebello is expensive but he does good work. January 26, 200916 yr comment_272022 I'd put my money in an L28 to start with. No reason whatsoever to handicap yourself or your Z by starting out several CCs short of an L28. Match the head from your L24, do some head work, get bigger SUs (2-inch), add a header, a better distributor and an electric fan.I've done the 3.0L set-up and now have a 3.2L Rebello in my 240. It goes like stink.... Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28531-any-experience-with-the-27-l/?&page=2#findComment-272022 Share on other sites
