In-Car Video from California Speedway

Here is the last lap and a half from California Speedway last weekend (June 08), from my video camera in my roadster. Hector Cademartori and I had another epic battle as you will see below!

Enjoy!

Next to the Views display on the bottom right of the video is a link where you can click on "watch in high quaility". I recomend it, only because the video is so much better.

I didn't realize Hector was a racer; I only knew him as an artist. It was neat watching a big blob of red moving around in your rear-view mirror. Which finger were you pointing at him near the end?

Hector and I are good friends and I am giving Hector the thumbs up and pointing my index finger at him for a great race as he almost drafted past me coming up onto the banking towards the start/finish line.

Along with being a great Artist Hector is a heck of a driver, and a gentleman. When he overshot the corner and came back onto the track he waived me by (you might just be able to see it in the video).

I have the utmost respect for Hector and this is the second time in 3 years that we have finished within a couple hundredths of a second at California Speedway.

What you don't see is that it took me 5+ laps to catch Hector and then the last two to pass him. It was a great race, and Hector came over and congratulated me right after the race, as I congratulated him too for a great race.

Hector has vowed to get me back next year!

Great job Ron! Excelent video coverage of your driving, looks like you are out on a Sunday drive. Must have that roadster set just right. Hoping to get my 240 back to Daytona this coming August. Many years waiting to get back. But I won't put up a video for a while as I'm not sure of my driving or car set-up? Thanks for sharing the video

Hi Craig and Cindy! Hey I miss you guys, hope that the Yellow Chino Z makes it out to the track soon!!

Hi Carl, We experimented with a 4.62 gearset this time, and it should be better, faster than the 4.38. It was absolutely roasting hot out at Cal Speedway, so we were 3 to 4 seconds a lap slower than normal out there.

The "trick" as it were, is to get the right gear set up for ones motor. Since I have a fairly mild cam I can only go so far. So gearing choice is essential. I am running a Ultra Close Roadster 5spd so going into the hair pin you can see me shifting into first gear at 45+ mph. I am still not sure if the 4.38 or 4.62 is better because the track conditions were so much different than the last time I was out there with the 4.38's.

Best,

Ron
