July 2, 200816 yr comment_252579 Hi Paul! I call ground control this morning, ck'd with them and they still say on a 240z to keep the heavyer springs to the back. I guess once you are in the ballpark is up to the driver how comfortable he feels with the set-up. I'm going to keep my the way they are now I'm just looking for seat time and keep my eyes open if I could find a set 300 to 350 lbs then i'll put them up frt and see. Good luck Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28593-in-car-video-from-nashville-superspeedway/?&page=2#findComment-252579 Share on other sites
July 8, 200816 yr comment_253036 Guys,An ITS car is not allowed changes to the geometry in the suspension to optimize it during bump and droop. Therefore higher spring rates in general can help limit the total travel, as long as your shocks are designed to control them. In general terms the stiffer the roll the more oversteer you will induce at that end. A Z car has oversteer by design. Try a softer spring in the rear. It also helps get power to the ground by keep tire compliance, although IT horsepower doesn't notice this too much.Greg Ira Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28593-in-car-video-from-nashville-superspeedway/?&page=2#findComment-253036 Share on other sites
July 8, 200816 yr comment_253046 West coast guys run stiffer rear/softer front to get the car to rotate more on corner entry with a welded diff. Most of the tracks here on the west coast are pretty bumpy and have more low and medium speed corners then high speed corners. WSIR and Cal Speedway are the two exceptions. July 8, 200816 yr Author comment_253048 I always wondered about the East vs. West set up differences. Thanks guys.BTW, congrats Greg on your Roebling victories. If you saw a Red RX8 running T-3 it is a neighbor of mine. We changed the gearbox out last weekend so he could make it. He is still developing the car but you probably know Eric anyway.Paul Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28593-in-car-video-from-nashville-superspeedway/?&page=2#findComment-253048 Share on other sites
July 8, 200816 yr comment_253080 Paul,Thanks for the kudos. John, I don't really understand that set up but obviously you guys have made it work. Here are my first thoughts. Corner entry the rear is in droop. Yes, softer front springs should give good turn in which should go along with entry rotation. Soft springs big bar has been around for ages. You're set up in and EP car would be tough because they do have good power. When you are able to utilize a big bar in front (softer all around springs) the inside rear tire will be weighted on corner exit, very good for getting off the corner. I would love to try a car set up like that. Lemme know if you know anyone that's going to a track day that wouldn't mind. Sweet! July 9, 200816 yr comment_253114 Hi Greg! Congrats on the RevTech victory at Daytona You guys did a great job. I almost made it there. Too many things came up at last minutes. Would of been great watching the two z's beat the competition. Even if I would of been in back of the pack. Planning on been at Daytona in August, Like I mention to Paul earlier on I found a set of 350lbs springs to fit my car should be here by the weekend. I'll put the up frt. see how it works. then swapp them for Sunday and see. July 9, 200816 yr comment_253165 Pablo,Thanks a million. You will see one of my cars in Daytona that I built for Charles Perry. It's a silver 280zx. He'll be fast. Daytona is a good steady state test for spring and swaybar adjustment since the turns are long and flat. If your car has an issue try something new, but not till then. Every car will have its share of understeer/oversteer when over driven and sometimes that's what you have to do to see what will happen. For good speed you have to draft. Feel free to PM me if you have handling issues.Greg Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28593-in-car-video-from-nashville-superspeedway/?&page=2#findComment-253165 Share on other sites

July 10, 200816 yr Author comment_253266 Hey Pablo,Consider coming up to Barber at the end of August. It has got to be one of the most scenic tracks in the SE. There should be a good crop of Z's as well. I think 240ZDave will have his new car ready by then. Shedd, Parrish, Earp and myself should be there. I need to get to Fla sometime too. The last time I was at Daytona was crewing for an IMSA Gremlin in the fall '79.Greg, I am looking at your picture and car this month in the Nissan calender.>applause< Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28593-in-car-video-from-nashville-superspeedway/?&page=2#findComment-253266 Share on other sites
July 10, 200816 yr comment_253298 Paul,Yeah, the calendar car is a little beat up. You should see it now. Straight and ORANGE, closer to this particular cars original paint color. Hey, I might be coming to Barber and running an IT Car if my friend will let me. That would be one real show of Z cars!Greg Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28593-in-car-video-from-nashville-superspeedway/?&page=2#findComment-253298 Share on other sites

July 10, 200816 yr comment_253307 Hi Paul! Back in 89 throu 93 when I started I had a great time meeting a bunch of people with the same hobby per say. That changed when I decided to change from racing a 240z to racing a family. Now I'm slowly gonna get back to it I miss the racing atmosphere specially the Datsun friends. I've heard alot of good things about Barber, some day I'll make it there and Road Atlanta. For now just want to do Daytona a few times then start expanding. Looking forward to meeting you all in person Thanks Pablo Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28593-in-car-video-from-nashville-superspeedway/?&page=2#findComment-253307 Share on other sites
