The 240Z radiator has no tabs for shroud mounting on the bottom-only on the sides....

Probably a good thing it went to someone else...

I have two of the OEM Metal shrouds, I'll look into making a hinged version-being that they are made from four pieces of pressed steel, shouldn't be too tough to keep the right OEM look from the top...

I'm really not sure Mike. I was bidding on one on ebay a week ago- it was hinged though- and missed it- it went for somewhere in the low $80's- and the guy swore in an email that it would fit my 2/71, and would take it back if it didn't fit. I would usually not leave things to "chance" like that. It was attractive in that I didn't have to take the radiator off to install it.

Now I'm not so certain.

Yeah- by being hinged, there's no radiator removal needed. Thinking about selling one?

I believe so. Luckily I didn't win that one. Just looked at my rad- no tabs would have match up with that piece! I'll never try to buy anything again without researching it first.

The 280Z radiator is larger in length than the 240Z. I have had a 280Z radiator (no shroud) mounted in a '72, and it extends dangerously low in the front tempting road hazards, but it fits and functions (must use a different bottom hose). The radiator shroud for a 280Z is therefore longer as well. I will attach a picture of a 240Z shroud mounted to a 240Z radiator so that you can compare the shrouds side-by-side. The 280Z shroud might fit on a 240Z, but it appears to me that there would be some overhang at the bottom, and the side bolts may be a bit different as well. I hope the picture will help you with your search for the correct one. The shroud does IMO do a good job maximizing the efficiency of the stock fan.... I guess that's why the engineers put it there to begin with. Unfortunately the shrouds and belly pans were most often discarded during maintenance because they were in the way. Now they are becoming high priced items.

If you wish to have any measurements, just let me know.

Also, IIRC, it's not that big of a deal to remove it. I think all that I had to do is remove the fan/clutch unit, then in/out with the radiator or shroud. I can't see why I'd need to be removing it very often anyway.

I don't think radiator shrouds were standard on any US 240Zs, but they could be purchased separately through the dealer. Not sure if they were standard equipment on later S30s in the US or not.
