Stock interior leather seats?

I have looked at many advertisements for Zs over the past couple of years and I am frequently seeing it stated that the car comes with leather seats. I personally have not seen one with leather seats from the factory.

Is there such a creature?

These days, with the proliferation of leather seating surfaces in most all cars, there seems to be a whole lot of people who don't know that leather-grained vinyl even exists. "If it looks kinda like leather, it must be leather."

I'd rather believe that, than assume that all the ads for S30s with "original leather" were/are written by liars.

I don't think most people on ebay fabricate answers, most tell the truth as they know it. A few get "creative" rather than research, even more strictly assume, and then you are left with those who will do or say anything to seel what ever they have.

Didn't think so, the literature thats kickin around shows a very limited number of options without leather as one of them.

These seats look like leather and the car is otherwise, pretty well original gear.

They don't have vents but they are a pretty tidy looking job.

Reading through some of the early Datsun literature, service manuals, owners manuals, etc., you will find reference to leather or leatherette upholstery. This is a translation issue and not meant to indicate real cow. The vinyl upholstery is simulated leather. The original designs called for leather but vinyl was used for durability and cost reasons. Datsun (Nissan) made a serious attempt to simulate leather and did a pretty good job of it. That's why there is the confusion and mis-identification.

Keep in mind that on a used car - it is possible to have "leather" set upholstery. A couple of companies used to sell them for the first generation Z's and they may still be available somewhere. So if there is a question - clear it up with the present owner...
