Restoration Complete!

First off.....restrain yourself and try to hold back your chuckles, I'm getting enough of that from my cousin!

I found this "project" at a yard sale and though to myself I'll get it running, do a little work and then sell it. The problem is I hadn't yet found my dream 69/70 240 project, I had a garage full of tools staring forlornly at me and gobs of time on my hands.

Next thing I know, the ol' "one thing led to another" got me and the result is this, my freshly restored 1966 Western Auto "Wizard" rototiller made by Gilson Brothers.

By the looks of things, a rototiller is the LAST thing your yard needs!

Not sure what I'll do with it now. Was gonna use it to break up some hard packed ground that needed some sod grass but that's been completed. Maybe if food prices keep going up, I'll start a garden.

Cousin thinks I should put it in the farm implement show circuit.

I haven't the foggiest. I do know that like most restorations, I'll never get back what I have in it. Especially the labor part!

Gilson Bros. must ave made the same tiller for lots of retailers. My parents still have an identical tiller (bought it new when I was a kid), except it is orange and branded as Montgomery Wards/Riverside.

Will, it wasn't exactly easy but I did manage to find a set of year/period correct decals for the engine cover. The old soak in water and apply kind! The hardest was the 4hp. one.

The one I've yet to find is the "brand" decal that goes on the upper handle bracket. I've made a close "replica" of it with MS Paint but I've yet to do any research as to what it would cost to have someone produce it.

If you have a good digital image already - then any local sign company, like Signs Now can scan it, and print it on vinyl - shouldn't be more than $20.00 to $25.00 .... cheap considering the cost of their overhead and equipment.

Great Job by the way - put it on E-Bay and see what it brings.. got to be worth a couple hundred bucks to someone.. They don't make them like they used too..
