Hi Mike:

You know I'm just kidding..I'm sure I will find another (or another set)... The wheels look great...

It didn't seem like enough time had passed to have the centers turn dark gray. As I recall it took several months for mine to turn. Did you paint them?

FWIW.

The guy that restored them painted the centers. I considered asking him to leave them unpainted, since I thought they would darken naturally, but I thought it might protect them and be a little less maintenance with the paint.

Yes - you can be sure it will be less maintenance with the paint, although it's the outter lips that take the time.. Left to turn gray naturally, you have to keep them coated with a very light oil, and you have to keep them dry.

It takes a special process, and specific primer to adhear to the mag...No one around here knew how to do that, nor what to use as the primer. So I just let them age.. Mine already had a sealing/coating on the inside of the mounting surfaces so I left that in place... without it, the mag's will leak down fairly quickly.

FWIW,

Carl

I just sent mine out for polishing as I got caught out in the rain with my car and that as you can imagine was not a pretty site.

The wheels look like the ones above now (minus the serious pitting) and my car resides in the Datsun Heritage Museum for the time being.

Carl we will find you that last wheel you need, it is just a matter of time.

Again, I would strongly recomend not running these wheels on a street car. Any water will cause the wheels to cloud up instantly.

Hi Ron:

Thanks for the encouragement... I keep mine dry!! It only takes once to learn that lesson:finger:

Right now I'm not driving the BRE Baja Z much - no one around here has any 110 octane racing fuel - all deliveries to this area have been held up because the tankers are all carrying fuel to the hurricane damaged area's first.

I'm told that the next deliveries will be $9.98 per gallon as well...
