Posted July 15, 200816 yr comment_253701 Hey guys just put the cheque in the mail to Cold Springs. I hardly released it from my fingers when a shudder of remorse ran up my spine - normal, for me anyway in the rediculas process of buying without seeing. :stupid: Won't see the car for at least four weeks - I'll decide if I will post trailer pictures when I see it. It looks really good outside and most of the shots look good (as you may have noticed from my recent posts) with the exception of the rear hatch lip and the battery tray area. I am hoping I can get her road worthy and patched up for 1K - I am anticipating typical issues and hoping that it doesn't go much beyond that. POR will get another $50 Anyway she's a pretty girl. BTW - Anyone have centre peice for one of these hubcaps that you are willing to part with? July 15, 200816 yr comment_253710 Isn't it too cold in Newfoundland for these classics to survive in your environment?Do they all migrate to Florida in the winter? July 16, 200816 yr Author comment_253728 Thanks guys - I've posted the pictures that sold me, it is a bit of a project though. There is a significant amount of work to do on it, but I believe it will come out nicely. Ron, they are pretty rare up here. I get alot of people asking what the 280 is. Lots of people mistake it for a Porsche. You are correct in a way - our cold weather = lots of salt on the roads. Due to the salt there are very few intact survivors and most of them are heavily rusted. Only the owners migrate to florida for the winters. July 18, 200816 yr comment_253754 You've got a rare bird there, Sailor Bob. She still has the original front tie-down hooks screwed in place. That's gotta be worth a couple of ben's right there...they're rare.Frank Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28749-just-bought-z-3-1973/#findComment-253754 Share on other sites
July 18, 200816 yr comment_253758 Very nice Bob!I think you have a lot less work to do than I do on the 73 240 I just got..Eric Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28749-just-bought-z-3-1973/#findComment-253758 Share on other sites
July 18, 200816 yr comment_253773 Nice catch Bob. Definitely a keeper. Frank. Funny you should mention the tie-down hooks. Up here (Canada), they were thought to be tow hooks. I've never seen a Zed without both front and rears. Was it common practice for dealers in the U.S. to remove them prior to sale? July 18, 200816 yr comment_253781 The two on the rear and one hook on the front are tie-down hooks. One bracket with the hole in it, is a towing point. As I recall that was usually on the Right Front...Yes, the Dealers were supposed to remove the tie-down hooks, to prevent people using them as tow hooks. Most Dealers were too busy getting mag.'s, body side moldings and bumper bars installed prior to delivery, to mess with removing anything.FWIW,Carl B. July 18, 200816 yr comment_253788 When I got my 73 in 77 it had two "hooks" in back and two of the flat brackets in front. Somehow after 26 years of being apart I still can't find the other "hook" for the back, need one to make it complete. The dealer must of been "very busy" as it never had mags, side moldings or bumper bars.Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28749-just-bought-z-3-1973/#findComment-253788 Share on other sites
