Just bought Z #3, 1973

Hey guys just put the cheque in the mail to Cold Springs. I hardly released it from my fingers when a shudder of remorse ran up my spine - normal, for me anyway in the rediculas process of buying without seeing. :stupid:

Won't see the car for at least four weeks - I'll decide if I will post trailer pictures when I see it. It looks really good outside and most of the shots look good (as you may have noticed from my recent posts) with the exception of the rear hatch lip and the battery tray area. I am hoping I can get her road worthy and patched up for 1K - I am anticipating typical issues and hoping that it doesn't go much beyond that. POR will get another $50

Anyway she's a pretty girl.

BTW - Anyone have centre peice for one of these hubcaps that you are willing to part with?

Thanks guys - I've posted the pictures that sold me, it is a bit of a project though. There is a significant amount of work to do on it, but I believe it will come out nicely.

Ron, they are pretty rare up here. I get alot of people asking what the 280 is. Lots of people mistake it for a Porsche. You are correct in a way - our cold weather = lots of salt on the roads. Due to the salt there are very few intact survivors and most of them are heavily rusted. Only the owners migrate to florida for the winters.

Congratulations on the purchase. Nice to have another making its way up to the great white north. I can see you driving down to George street in it now...

(BTW, the '71 goes for its QC inspection tomorrow a.m., wish me luck).

Nice catch Bob. Definitely a keeper. Frank. Funny you should mention the tie-down hooks. Up here (Canada), they were thought to be tow hooks. I've never seen a Zed without both front and rears. Was it common practice for dealers in the U.S. to remove them prior to sale?

The two on the rear and one hook on the front are tie-down hooks. One bracket with the hole in it, is a towing point. As I recall that was usually on the Right Front...

Yes, the Dealers were supposed to remove the tie-down hooks, to prevent people using them as tow hooks. Most Dealers were too busy getting mag.'s, body side moldings and bumper bars installed prior to delivery, to mess with removing anything.

When I got my 73 in 77 it had two "hooks" in back and two of the flat brackets in front. Somehow after 26 years of being apart I still can't find the other "hook" for the back, need one to make it complete. The dealer must of been "very busy" as it never had mags, side moldings or bumper bars.
