Posted July 19, 200816 yr comment_253939 I am planning on taking my car to the body shop next week for body and paint work. I would like to replace as many of the bolts with new ones instead of the old rusty ones. First of all I don't know what sizes they are, and secondly I don't know were to purchase new ones. Does anyone know of a list that would give the appropriate size? Anyone know were I could even purchase new ones? I have seen a few miscellaneous ones in Black Dragon and sometimes see some on ebay but they are never the ones I would like. Thanks.Carl Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28779-nuts-and-bolts-sources/ Share on other sites

July 19, 200816 yr Author comment_253942 Thanks. That helps. I happen to be digging around and found some boxes with most of the old bolt etc. in them. Suprisingly enough I actually labelled most of them. I still have plenty of bags of mystery bolts! July 26, 200816 yr comment_254478 I get my bolts from the following two sources. Note that these are not OEM replacements, just a good source for metric replacements. Finding JIS spec fasteners proved nearly impossible here in the states and I don't speak or read Japanses so I finally gave up on finding exact replacements. JIS fasteners tend to have a smaller head/shaft diameter then SAE and DIN spec fasteners. Go buy a metric bolt based on these specs and compare it to an original JIS spec fastener with the same shaft diameter and you'll see what I mean.www.boltdepot.comwww.hillcofasteners.com Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28779-nuts-and-bolts-sources/#findComment-254478 Share on other sites

July 27, 200816 yr comment_254530 Hey David and all interested-- An excellent source for these engine bolts---exhaust studs, intake studs, water pump, thermostat, timing cover, fuel pump, etc. is Eiji Hosomi at www.datsunspirit.com I just ordered them from him at the suggestion by Zero Z on this site. There is a thread that was running about sourcing these fasteners and I'm sure you can dredge up as it is recent. The fasteners I received were bagged and tagged for where they go and are about 90% original nissan type with the proper plating grade and head type and include lockwashers and nuts. As a one stop place to get them I could not be happier. He even includes a new plated timing indicator plate! Eiji told me on the phone that he has several (many) of these bagged and tagged and ready to go for anyone that needs them. Eiji himself is a wonderful fella to talk to and a valued resource/source for us Z'ers. Ask here on the forum with anyone that has dealt with him and you will get the same answer. Highly recommended if you want no hassles or disapointments and the quality and pricing for them is very reasonable. Just to mention I think we should do business as often as possible with these individual Z part merchants that help keep our cars running. Without them "in business" we are in for a difficult time indeed in the coming years, as it is hard enough to find good sources now for correct reasonably priced replacement parts. July 28, 200816 yr comment_254695 If originality is not a concern, Tacoma Screw Products has metric class 10.9 bolts in any thread needed. Its hard to find class 10.9 M10 x1.25p bolts which are used a lot in the suspension and chassis. TSC has them. July 30, 200816 yr comment_254902 My dad and I both got the kit from Eiji. They were all OEM Nissan and yellow zinc plated. Couldn't be happier Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28779-nuts-and-bolts-sources/#findComment-254902 Share on other sites
November 16, 200816 yr comment_266518 I took you guys' advice and bought the engine bolt kit from Eiji at Datsun Spirit. All individually packaged and labeled. I happened to contact him 2 days before he was leaving for Japan and he still took the time to process my order and ship it out for $10.00. I have seen other vendors charge that for 6 bolts. Now I have a new vendor. I still have some things to get and he will be the first man I go to. November 16, 200816 yr comment_266522 You can also get the CD that they sell here...shows you how things are put together...gives you part numbers...etc...etc. I also have some Excel spreadsheets I uploaded here a pretty good while back...just do a search on "Spreadsheets" ...might help you out some.webdawg1 Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28779-nuts-and-bolts-sources/#findComment-266522 Share on other sites
November 17, 200816 yr comment_266592 Unfortunately you can't get the majority of the bolts from Nissan anymore. Even if you do, I have found that 90% of them don't have the OEM yellow cad style of plating. I am pretty sure that Eiji orders his from Japan. He gets 80-90% yellow cad style and can order individual bolts I believe Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28779-nuts-and-bolts-sources/#findComment-266592 Share on other sites
