July 25, 200816 yr comment_254394 Then again, what would I do with a used '78 5 speed in southern Utah? They just crush the cars here because no one is looking for parts for them.grab it! you can easily eBay them. i sold two early 5spd's quickly. the buyers weren't that picky....anything is better than the 4spd's 4th (1:1) on the highway... July 28, 200816 yr Author comment_254694 Thanks to everyone for your input. I like the thought that I ordered the later one so send this one back. But... I know my luck, I'll send it back and never find/ pony up the $ (500+ on ebay, kinda scary) for the rear gears I need and will hate the gears of the later tranny. So I'm gonna keep this one and see if I like it. I also appreciated the comments on the cam. I still have the stock engine, runs good, but I think I'll go for the famous life time warenty from the Rebello guys. I'll be sure to discuss transmissions with them before they build my engine. Thanks againneal g Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28799-280z-5-speed-how-bad-is-it/?&page=3#findComment-254694 Share on other sites
