2ManyZs Posted September 2, 2002 Share #2 Posted September 2, 2002 Cheapest thing to do would be to change to a lower rear gear to get your RPM's up faster, therefore getting the boost up a bit quicker. Full boost doesn't appear until a certain RPM, so the faster you can wind it up to that RPM, the quicker you are on the boost. Or possibly since it is an automatic, you might be able to try a higher stall converter. Not sure if there would be any available though. Only other way to do anything is with a different style turbo or wastegate. . Not cheap.

2ManyZs Posted September 2, 2002 Share #4 Posted September 2, 2002 NOS would work, but a 4.11 out of a scrap yard or parts car would be cheaper. Well, maybe..... then you would want.......:cross-eye
smg1404 Posted September 3, 2002 Share #5 Posted September 3, 2002 Depends on your scrap-yard. I doubt I could get a 411 for less than $400.. locally, any way the NOS would be about the same, I the car you are talking about is an auto... Then why talk about racing... Auto's are not compatible with sports cars. To say other wise would be patronizing.. You can drag race an auto but in any other kind of race the auto's get parked in the spectators lot. If you are experiancing a problem with turbo lag, there are two possible solutions. Both require a rethinking on how to drive. If the turbo does not do it's job below 2500 rpm. ... do not let the rpm get below 2500 rpm... Drive more aggressively, SLip the clutch to keep the power on durring take offs... shift at higher rpm's.. Push the car like you mean it.... When I used to drag race as a kid... The saying was if she go's she go's if she blow's she blow's.. Racing for real means the car is a comsumable... If it can't win then it will die trying. zorro Posted September 3, 2002 Share #6 Posted September 3, 2002 Just like 2Many said if you don't want to spend the money on a wastegate diff ratio is the cheapest alternative.
Mr Camouflage Posted September 3, 2002 Share #7 Posted September 3, 2002 Rev the engine up to 3 or 4000 rpm (so it in the boost range) to get the turbo spinning, then drop it into drive. Just don't do it too often or you'll break something.
