So how about an update, have you found a Z yet?

Not yet. I did make an offer on one car that was later declined, and I towed my trailer to Alabama to pick up another car that turned out to be "less than advertised". :stupid:

I did receive a good lead at a car show last weekend. Have any of you local GA people ever attended the car show at The Avenues Mall? It is located in east Cobb County (Marietta, GA) and is scheduled for the first Sunday in every month (it was the first Saturday in every month). This car show has every make that you can imagine (and it's free).

I park my car and start to look around (100-300 cars depending on the weather). I am looking at one of several 240Z/280Z's in attendance when a guy walks up and asked me if I owned this particular 280Z. I told him no, but I was looking to find one.

The guy knows of one FS. I gave him my card and told him to have the owner (his widowed cousin) call (or email) me. An older lady did call me Monday. Her husband owned the car but had a fatal heart attack. He wanted his son to have the car (they have two daughters, she likes to talk). The son is not a car guy (he probably likes drugs more from what I could gather). Anyway, this nice lady is going to let me see this car after she talks to her daughters....

It's a one-owner (with paperwork) 1972 240 with 20,000 miles.....

I drove my car there a couple of times a few years ago when it was on Saturday. It's close to my house. I felt totally out of place with all of the Cobras and Ferraris and Corvettes. In fact mine was the only Japanese car there. I'm glad to hear that some others have since been shown.

I just put October 5th on my calendar and will do my best to make it back.

I made it to the show and enjoyed talking to people and looking at cars. Doc, thanks for the prodding; it was good talking to you.

Mike,

The pleasure was all mine.

I was diappointed in the Z turn-out this weekend. Your great 240Z (which you've had from college, BTW) was only there with a 1977 (?) 280Z. I could never find the owner of the 280 car.

BTW, I did not have the pleasure of meeting your wife. IMO, just based on seeing you and your perfect looking new baby, I would think that your new baby looks much more like your wife. JMHO, of course. :classic: :)

You meet my friend, [edit]D.ick had his stock recently body-off restored GT350 at the show. He also owns this very fast GT350 race car (which he has graciously allowed me to drive on a race track):

OK, that didn't post because someone decided that a guy named D.ick is not allowed here. :paranoid: God forbid.

If anyone is going to be near Road Atlanta in two weeks. Tim and I (hopefully not censored) will be there.

My old is perfectly legal:

I found D.ick's car when I was driving it. This thing is really fast and he is a really good friend for allowing me to race it with him in a long race. Thanks D. ;) . D.ick's last name is Rathbone.

This is me waiting for D.ick to come into the pitts and turning the car over to me. I am very nervous and trying to get my earplugs in my ear (we use radios). I am wearing a cool suit at Sebring FL.
