July 30, 200816 yr comment_254869 I don't, but hey from another Riverside folk I'd be up for knowing this info too, thankfully my car hasn't really needed work at all, or nothing past what I've done myself... July 30, 200816 yr comment_254888 Is Upland to far away? Elvin at Z Car Specialties is a great mechanic. He rebuilt my motor and installed a new clutch for me. Great guy and knows Z cars inside and out. 909) 981 - 1074. He is on 9th street just west of Grove. July 30, 200816 yr comment_254889 I was going to mention Elvan. Haven't spoken to him for a while but last time I talked to him he was talking about getting out of the business. That would be a shame. I learned much of what I know about the mechanical and electrical aspects of these cars from him. And, what's up with 'izcar'? (Post #3) Another 'Array' or 'fullhouse' type? July 30, 200816 yr comment_254896 I sure hope he doesn't close Stephen. He is a great resource and a heck of a nice guy. I better check in with him, haven't done that for awhile. What a collection of parts cars he has sitting there, last time I was at his shop. Must have been over 20 cars... July 31, 200816 yr comment_254920 If Irvine is within your driving range, I recommend Shinzo Auto Service. He does great engine work and has a really nice race-prepped 240ZG. The number is 949-951-5398. He recently worked on my 240 and I was really happy with the results--he knows his Datsuns! August 29, 200816 yr Author comment_258471 Thanks for the suggestions..Unfortunately, it looks like Z Specialty in Upland may be gone--I tried their number and it has been disconnected.Looks like I'm headed to Mike's Z Shop in Whittier. August 29, 200816 yr comment_258481 Sorry to hear that. I haven't seen Elvan in over two years and haven't talked to him for almost a year. I used to spend a lot of time at his shop when I live in La Verne, Upland, and Fontana. I learned a lot of what I know from him but the more I learned about these cars, the less I needed to go to his shop. I guess he did decide to get out of the business. I worked at the Ralphs that was right up the street from Mike's in Whittier. I have been to that shop a couple of times but never had anything done there. August 29, 200816 yr comment_258494 If Palm Springs isn't too far out of the way, Mike at Autobahn West has done great mechanical work for me on my '71 Z as well as a couple Porsches over the last 20 years. Good work, reasonable price.Dennis Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/28865-inland-empire-z-mechanics-body-shop/#findComment-258494 Share on other sites
