I don´t want to bash,

and I´m not cocky,

I just know what I need and how I should go about getting it,

I just figured here would be the best place.

To the men who have been helping I greatly appreciate it

If the HOA come again I´ll just reiterate the situation.

and then hold off until tomorrow.

thank you.

Stephen;

After you're done bashing the new member, you might update your information... didn't you finally buy a car? Or should we treat you in the same backhanded manner as you are treating Khrystina?

Text Lingo may be an irritant to many of us; and Khrystina for the benefit of the older, more set in their ways members which we all eventually become, remember that it gets confusing when we try to decipher it. Texting evolved due to the charges cell phone companies were charging for the amount of data transmitted, a shorter message cost less. Nowdays, it's minutes and not data or it was as of my last cell phone bill although I don't text and hated getting e-mails from the provider (cingular) only to be charged for receiving them.

Language continually evolves, otherwise it becomes a "dead" language due to lack of adaptation. Which is why some languages adopt terms from other languages. Some folks can't use contractions properly, others never speak without them. Some folks need a spell checker due to learning deficiencies and sometimes impairments (dyslexia, etc.). Texting may change language, but it does come at a cost. Many kids nowdays find it hard to believe they have to know how to write properly to get higher paying jobs.

Bashing those who can't recognize the difference between "they're", "their" and "there" seems "a tad bit overkill", wouldn't you agree? Then we get into local colloquialisms, Fellahs instead of Fellows, bubbler instead of drinking fountain, etc.. Part of the reason this board is such an excellent source of information is that we try not to bash people for the minor differences in their written text. Otherwise our international members would be unduly harassed, as well as some of our US members.

All that aside, check her prior posts and gallery and you'll see that Khrystina is a new owner, and is still doing the research that you started earlier this year (May or so...).

Khrystina, to unlock the door, you'll need a "jimmy bar". If you are a member of AAA, or have good relations with a police officer or locksmith, unlocking the door is a matter of minutes. You'll have to prove the car is yours, hopefully your ownership papers aren't all locked in the glove compartment, but it's extremely simple and quick. Once you have the car open you can address the ignition switch removal as explained above.

FWIW

Thank you so very much!!

But thats why I asked if anybody knew how to jimmy a Z in the opening thread...

anyways, I think the HOA will wait until tomorrow, and my mother has the pink slip and the bill of purchase in her dresser...

I just dont know how much it will cost to call somebody like AAA

and santa clarita doesnt have police, we have sheriffs and no offense to any law enforcement here, but they´re useless...

So I either need to wait until tomorrow and continue on my quest for my keys or resort to AAA.

Thank you so much.

Okay perhaps the lazy comment as a bit overboard, but my personal goal to stand against and end txt lingo is never going to end. As far as I know there are no letter limits on posts, so use all the keys. In my mind every time we allow txt speak to exist it becomes one small step toward it being publicly acceptable, and it should never be.

But having said that, for the sake of this board, which I truly enjoy and have learned so much from, I will not dive into pointless arguments if I can help it. Its a remnant of my past board experiences I suppose. I am far from a grammar nazi, Lord knows I have a hard enough time spelling things. But, txt speak is not bad grammar, its a testament to laziness that is irritating to read. LIKE WRITING IN ALL CAPS. Not hard to understand, nor confusing, just irritating.

But this is me getting off my soapbox.

yeah, I know

but this wouldn´t the first time they screw me over...

for example, my sweet sixteen was going to be at my pool house, you know, someplace cheap

and they handed the keys to somebody else the day before the party just because they had a fight with the lease holder of my house.

big ordeal. so I´m already on poor terms with them.

but I´m not totally worried...

but thank you anyways.

Once you're able to get into the car, and once you do what was suggested for the ignition, then you should be able to start it and move it.

If you want to get keys made, you need to know the code for your car. If it is like my 240Z, there should be the code on the lock cylinder from the passenger side door, but you will have to take the door panel off to get to that. The code may also be in the glove box on a sticker unless they stopped doing that by the time of the 280Z. Once you have the code, you can take it to a good locksmith, who can make you some keys. Assuming the ignition was the same as the doors, then you should be good to go. If it wasn't, then you would have to have the ignition retumbled for whatever key code you want.

I would think you should be able to find a friend who has AAA who could help to get you into the car. Sometimes a coat hanger, or a small screwdriver will help. You can get into a Ford Taurus with a small screwdriver inserted into the door handle slot without too much trouble for example. If I didn't live so far away I'd offer to help you. Good luck!

My, you've all been busy on this thread since I first saw it this morning! I'm not crazy about the text (or txt) thing either but that would just put it on a long list of 'modern' things that old guys like me either have to ignore or learn to live with because it appears that they are here to stay. Anyway, back to topic. Do they want you to move your car or just provide proof tht you own it?

''MOLD'' you a key ???? Please don't ever repeat that phrase again......:stupid:

Khrystina , if you or your Mom have an AAA membership , lost keys are included in their services to you ! Otherwise call a good locksmith . I'd charge 120.00 or less for this , and it takes 15 minutes as long as 1 ( one ) key worked for doors and ignition. Good luck ! Also there's a good chance the key number tag is still glued to the inside of the glovebox somewhere . Then it's even cheaper !!

Uh, why?

They pop out the door lock; and mold a new key for her. The only issue would be that the door locks are different from the ignition, which would be more expensive to have both made.
