Glliw Posted August 8, 2008 Share #13 Posted August 8, 2008 Here's a couple that I threw together. I tried copying the GT40 paint scheme on the hood but the lines are just all wrong for it I'd say. I did try to incorporate it somewhat though.
neverznuff Posted August 8, 2008 Share #14 Posted August 8, 2008 I have seen an amazing orange Chevy Monte Carlo around town. I am not sure of the color, however the work was done by Artistic Body and Fender of Spokane Washington. A phone call may help? The number is (509) 535-5838. They may also have a photo. If I get a chance, I'll snap a shot or two.
xray Posted August 8, 2008 Share #15 Posted August 8, 2008 ^Good color but lots of pearl. It will definitely cost you a lot more for those colors. They are a bitch to spray too without getting striping.Well, yes...that's why it's the best orange out there! The pearl is what makes it such a headturner compared to all the other flat or metallic oranges. He did ask for the best modern orange color, not the easiest to apply.....And based on my friends who own Lotus, the police are quite attracted to their car, so....:stupid:
al_itzah2luv Posted August 9, 2008 Share #16 Posted August 9, 2008 this is my opinion but, eeeewww orange...mine is staying flat black with pinstriped neon green flames with a white outline...XD
Danglybanger Posted August 9, 2008 Share #17 Posted August 9, 2008 If the 510 had a JDM grille it'd be perfect... Those might be the two most gorgeous Datsuns ever...IMO, a 240 or 260 NEEDS to be either lime green, orange, or yellow. Some sort of citrus.Same for a 280, but add points for metallic, and maybe slightly darker....Anyway, yeah 350Z orange. That color is amazing, if mine gets repainted soon I'll consider it... Chrome orange is great though.

AZ-240z Posted August 9, 2008 Share #19 Posted August 9, 2008 My car was 918 orange when I bought it in 1971 and I want to repaint it orange. However, I don't want to go with the OE color and we're going to do base coat / clear coat. What I want is the most eye-popping orange that's out there. The color I want is "Arrest Me, Officer" orange. Anyway, I'd like to know if any of you have a candidate orange that I might consider for such a BC/CC paint job. I am afraid that my more conservative view of color schemes may not be your cup of tea, but I thought I would chime in, anyway. One of my favorites is the ghost racing stripes. At first glance, you know that something is different, and upon closer examination the stripes just pop. My suggestion would be the 350Z orange, or yellow, and incorporate ghost stripes to possibly compliment the interior color scheme. Very subtle, but more modern and enduring, instead of bling that you may tire of sooner. Mustange has done this, and I think it is a technique that compliments it's timeless styling without being distacting. Just my 2 cents. peterc Posted August 9, 2008 Share #20 Posted August 9, 2008 Everybodies perception of colour differs so radically that it is almost impossible to acurrately describe in words the colour that you are looking for. For what its worth, the following link is to a car under restoration (Greg's car) that definitely falls into the "eye-popping" "arrest me officer" range of orange. If nothing else, it will help you refine the "orange" you're after.cheersp http://picasaweb.google.com/wgmauto
DeMoore Posted August 14, 2008 Share #21 Posted August 14, 2008 (edited) My wife and I were driving through Covina and we saw this Z parked in front of a cafe and thought of this thread. We drove home, got the camera, and when we got back to the cafe, the owner was pulling out of his parking space. We got a good picture of his orange paint job as he was speeding off. He said it's a 71 with a Skyline engine (if you couldn't tell by the label on the front quarter). The color that you see in the picture if fairly accurate of the color in real life, although the computer did take away a bit of the shine. My wife spotted the car and loved the color so much that she made me speed home to get the camera! enjoy! Danglybanger Posted August 14, 2008 Share #22 Posted August 14, 2008 (edited) ...I LOVE that color. Were you in the Z too when spotted? The Skyline badge, matte hood, and bit of duct tape on the fender are a bit cheese (and the spoiler looks ominous and I probably wouldn't like it if it were a full pic), without any of those things the painted wheels (actually an AWESOME idea) would look less amateur. Nice stance. mmm sushi. Edited August 14, 2008 by Danglybanger
