No I think he meant it that most people don't recognize the rarity of the red interior and the just assume its different.

hey carl....he doesn't tell ya. but it looks well cared for. not sure about the overspray on the (engine side) heater core hoses though.. minimal wear on the foot pedal pads, and 'choke' wording below the choke light is still very nice. underside is clean, but no photos of the forward rails..(odd). though from the looks of it i doubt there's any rust.. might be a couple of miles on it based on the amount of scunge on the diff....

overall a very nice car.

i'm still not keen on the red interior though.....

This second car looks more like a refreshed car than a survivor.

I believe it has a dash cap, the evidence of a tapejob around the door plate, the fact that the block paint is awful, and only selected hoses were "armoralled", couple that with this car coming from a dealer not careful enough to remove the phrase "this is a twelve year old USED British truck with over 90,000 miles" and not only is the mileage not given, but the majority of the pictures are overexposed...

This is a car I would absolutely have to go over in person...too many things listed as done with to many more evident.

We may never know - but I do know that the highest price paid for a stock, all original, very low mileage example of a Datsun 240-Z that I have seen, was paid for a White 72 with Red interior a couple years ago.

I personally happen to favor the White 72's with Red interior - here in Florida it's hard to beat owning and caring for a white car. My personal all time favorite is of course the 72/73 Metallic Blue with white interior.

Honestly I believe we are past the point where color matters as much as the overall condition of the car.

I agree 100% for those of us who already know 240Zs, but well-heeled first-time Z buyers may not have yet learned that condition is far more important than color. There's two or three colors I'd have rather bought than 905 red. But red is what I have, and I'm lovin' it!

As an owner of a 72 Lime Z I would say I bought into the condition over color argument. But the color actually grows on you!

My favorite color combo is the blue/white interior as well but they don't pop up too much. I did look hard at a green 280Z with white interior but I wanted my 240 more than the color.

I do think alot of people would have passed on my lime Z though and they missed a beauty!

I'd have a hard time convincing my wife that it was OK to buy either a lime or gold 240Z, regardless of condition. But I'm thoroughly sold on the fact that the color doesn't matter, only the condition.
