I am putting together my gas cap with new rubber flap. Does the flap go under the flange of the fill tube or between the fill tube flange and the metal ring. FSM is not specific and the "How to" book just says to make sure you install it.

Assuming your 260Z is the same as my '71 240Z, the flap goes under the filler neck flange.
