al_itzah2luv Posted August 9, 2008 Author Share #25 Posted August 9, 2008 I'm surprised that this has gone on for this long. 78 posts? She found here keys, she posted her pictures, and she's into 'text speak'. You mention adult spelling and punctuation but remember she's 16. Let her do her thing at 16, we all did. I have children older than her. This is turning into more of a 'chat' than a thread. Let it go!awwwwww come on!!its fun and people are conversing...besides, i already agreed to not txt here... It is what it is. But the rest of this is like being in a chat room. Not much of it really has to do with cars.

Danglybanger Posted August 9, 2008 Share #28 Posted August 9, 2008 I seem to be this forum's author of social/structural criticism lately but I am shocked by this forum's lack of participation in off topic rooms and subject matter (coming from other car forums that seem to have much more brotherhood)... Those aspects of this board seem to be dead (and it's not just this forum, but Z forums in general...) Is it because the Z community is so non-homogeneous? You can pretty much picture what the population of a forum for Civics (picture Fred Durst fashion, 5 years ago), WRXs (Fred Durst, circa two years ago), Corvettes (Big wallet, expanding waistline, resultant penchant for useless shiny Ecklers catalog gear) or Triumphs (Weird beards, flight jackets, freshly stoked pipes and earl grey etc.) would look like... But here we have a more diverse spread it seems... 16 year old girls, baby boomers, college aged ricers/racers... Is there nothing else we can truly talk about or have in common? Poindexter Posted August 9, 2008 Share #29 Posted August 9, 2008 Danglybanger, I've noticed the same thing, it's a bit sad in a way. We seem to share quite an actual- dare I say love?- at least a deep interest in this particular classic. I've even encouraged one thread that I began in particular to be completely wide open and free-ranging- and it succeeded for a while- reaching almost 3,500 reads, while managing to meander around a common group of ideas. Can't the creator of a thread "suggest" that there is almost nothing off-topic, and therefore nobody can threadjack? Apologies if I'm stepping in it right now by doing this, but I think K appears OK with this freestyle posting. I've even tried to get a bunch of NJ region Zedders to get together at any one of several popular local venues- including an amazing National seashore park, several different Cruise-In nights, and a few great classic old-time drive-ins. It just doesn't seem meant to be. BTW your characterizations of various owners is very funny. I'd suggest you start a thread where everyone can make their observations about the other marques and their owners in a similar way.

sblake01 Posted August 9, 2008 Share #31 Posted August 9, 2008 What I do with threads like this is ultimately leave them alone. I just need to learn to do it sooner.

After taking another look at this thread past page 2, I agree with what you're saying --- i would have to say this thread is lacking relative content.. ...this is a Z forum right? Danglybanger Posted August 10, 2008 Share #33 Posted August 10, 2008 ...You know, what's more surprising is that on the Lotus forum I was previously on, the bias was still as much on socialization as technical talk... and just THINK how much more technical talk is needed when you're talking about a car of the Lotus' character (one where people feel compelled to make technical threads because if they don't, they won't learn what new and novel repair must be made to get their car working again every few days). You'd think with cars as reliable and trouble free (relative to anything else I've ever owned, anyway), we'd get distracted and need to find something else to talk about frequently Seems like this thread should be moved directly to the OT room to my ears, or the bulk of it. Zedyone_kenobi Posted August 10, 2008 Share #34 Posted August 10, 2008 (edited) After taking another look at this thread past page 2, I agree with what you're saying --- i would have to say this thread is lacking relative content.....this is a Z forum right? I have left well enough alone for long enough. This happens to all car forums who are 99% dominated by men. One girl posts anything and she gets the spot light regardless of how meaningless the content actually is. She had a real problem, the gentlemen and ladies on this forum helped her out. That should have been the end, but now the leg-humpers come out and are in full force talking about boobs, and other non Z related things. Any 16 year old is more than willing to soak it up. I am pleased her Z is out of trouble, really I am. But the rest of this thread content is 404 not found. (HA, hows that for some modern techy lingo, my inner nerd came out) It should really be locked, OR, I could just keep my nose out of it. Which would have worked just as well I suppose. al_itzah2luv Posted August 10, 2008 Author Share #35 Posted August 10, 2008 how would you kill this thread then?I mean, the only reason why its still up is because people keep on posting on it.
