Carl Beck Posted August 11, 2008 Author Share #13 Posted August 11, 2008 I just received the nicest call from Andy Girasek in Tampa. Andy said he had purchased a Blue 71 Z from the same man that had Bill Jones car a few months ago - and he was trying to make arrangements to go get the Silver car... but got busy, put it off for another week etc......Andy had called the previous owner today - only to find out that we had already picked it up over the weekend!! Andy said he was at first a little upset that the owner didn't call and tell him there was another person interested in the Z - in which case Andy would have shot him up a check or whatever to finalize the deal. Then when the previous owner said the car was going back to it's original owner Andy said he didn't feel as bad about losing the car... and was happy to hear it was going back to Bill.Andy ran "Just Z's" in Tampa for 20+ years and is a super Z mechanic. Very little he hasn't seen and fixed a hundred times or more on the 240-Z's... Super nice guy and he just called to say hello and share war stories... I guess this deal was just meant to be...FWIW,Carl B.

280~Master Posted August 12, 2008 Share #16 Posted August 12, 2008 Carl, What a great story and find, a nice 240Z going back to the original owner. Kind of like a Disney story where everyone lives happly ever after. Galaxybj - AKA (Bill Jones), Glad your car is coming home to see you. Hope she brings you back to those glory years and not disco RFOL. Good luck on fixing her back up. John
Poindexter Posted August 13, 2008 Share #17 Posted August 13, 2008 (edited) Isn't this kind of like playing a country western song backwards...and you get your horse, your hat and your dog back? Well done Carl! And IMHO this is tailor-made for being a project to watch as it's happening on here, if possible. I just love watching as a project comes together. Galaxybj Posted September 5, 2008 Share #18 Posted September 5, 2008 Thought I would bring an update on this wonderful happening. The car was picked up from Carl yesterday morning and should be here this weekend. Carl had good news and bad news as he tinkered on her over the past couple weeks. Got the carbs cleaned and the car running, but very rough and apparently a "strange" clunking sound. Brake and clutch master cylinders had to be disassembled and cleaned due to the rubber inside the caps melting over the years. Carpets are shot, seats need reupholstered, spare tire is missing, and the air cleaner was painted black. Once she is here I can go over her with a fine tooth comb to get reacquainted and inventory what my next steps will be. I will get delivery pictures and post some when I get the opportunity. Thank you very much once again to Carl, Doc, Carl Jr., and all others involved with "MY" Z returning home. Carl - Bet your white Z is soooo happy to see her leave so it got its rightful spot in the garage back :-)
Galaxybj Posted September 22, 2008 Share #19 Posted September 22, 2008 In case anyone is interested, I created a photo album for HLS30-30855. Will add photos as I get time to do more exploration/investigation.
Carl Beck Posted September 22, 2008 Author Share #20 Posted September 22, 2008 Oh.. I see... you have to go to your Personal Profile - then see the photo album. I wondered why it didn't show up in the "User Gallery"... One of these day's I'll have to learn how to use this forum software... The Z looks much better in front of your house than it did in mineROFL Looks like you washed it!! Anyway - here are a couple more for you... As I recall we were at an auto-cross in Spokane that day.
