Lost dash and other lights.

My thinking is this on my problem (I'm not trying to hijack this thread) That the Turn signal Lights and brake lights also function as the running lights, and these function normally meaning if I hit the brakes or signal they function, however when I put on my head lights the dash lights do not function nor do I have external running lights. So I can safely assume that my problem lies in my dash lighting system. correct?

IIRC, the bulbs for turn signals/running lights and brake lights are dual filament bulbs. I am not familiar with the EZ harness, so I don't know if it is wired for dual filament bulbs. You may wish to do a "stare & compare" with the wiring diagram from the FSM.

There's a bit of circular logic there. While your assumption is/may be correct, the logic for it isn't there.

If your T/S and Brake lights were the same as your running lights (Park Lights), then in the Park Light AND the Headlight position (in normal operation) the extra brightness would be caused by extra voltage (not happening) or extra current (plasible but doubtful and intrinsically prone to failure, i.e. designed to fail). It would also mean that at night, one side of your car would be totally dark while the T/S "blinked" on and off. Additionally, your side markers both front and rear would be tied in. Brake lights are not visible from the front.

The T/S and Brake lights are interwoven, both get routed through the combination switch and through the Hazard Switch.

The Dash lights and the Park Lights (secondary filament in the front and rear lamp housings AND the side markers), are part of a secondary circuit INDEPENDENT of the T/S and Brake.

Look at the wiring diagrams available, the colors of the EZ harness may not match the diagram, but the function must be there or it would have required a complete overhaul revision of the light system. The car is designed with dual filaments in the lamp housings and single filaments in the side markers.

I have all new bulbs(replaced them six month ago). When I got the car I got a new headlight/wiper,turn signal switchs because it had no turn signals. This car runs great,drives wonderful. But like I said driving to work last week just as I got to work I saw that I lost my dash lights.

I rerplaced the upper right fuse,still nothing. ken

1. Did you or a previous owner change the headlight switch? Why was it changed? (Did the responsible party diagnose a fault or start throwing parts at the car hoping it would be fixed?) Is it correct for your year?
When I got the car I got a new headlight/wiper,turn signal switchs because it had no turn signals.

Well, that does sound like you threw parts at the problem. Did you happen to inspect the old switches to see what was wrong?

2. Have you examined the fusebox, including the backside? Corrosion in the fusebox can increase resistance in the circuit, causing a hot-spot that promotes further corrosion or even melting of the plastic in the fusebox. (Been there, done that, got the t-shirt)

3. Are you sure all of the wiring harness connections for the circuit are in place? It's not unheard of to have one become disconnected/loosened as you are wrestling with putting in new parts or performing other maintenance.

It sounds like you still haven't tried to diagnose the problem.

Thanks for all the suggustions. I found the green/yellow wire that was and is agian sodtered(spelling) on top of the headlight switch. Thanks ken
Do you mean green/white? I guess that can look like yellow after 30 years.:classic:
