Posted August 17, 200816 yr comment_256909 Hello,Just to give you guys an update. Its been about 4 years. I finally heard the engine run last night. Original L24 with mikuni tripple. It sound beautiful . I have a 6 and 1 header. I am in the market for an exhaust system starting from the header tip, I will need something custom, bent pipe to come to the rear dual at left and right of the bumper. that is the look i am looking for. From what I've been reading if you're going to modify the L24 in the future, I should go with 2 1/2 pipe or more from header to the rear. I need some sweet sound and if later modified still get the sweet sound. If I take the car to a muffler shop what should I ask for. can anyone who has that set-up advise or any suggestion.:laugh::laugh: Edited August 17, 200816 yr by chachacourt Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29079-help-with-exhaust-system/ Share on other sites
August 22, 200816 yr comment_257722 Any muffler shop that does any custom work should be able to make what you are looking for. I had a local shop bend pipes to form an over/under configuration exiting on the left side in the normal location. As my set-up is a 6-3-2, it took a bit of mandrel time to get it just right, but it looks good and sounds sweet. Price was acceptable, too.Frank Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29079-help-with-exhaust-system/#findComment-257722 Share on other sites
August 24, 200816 yr Author comment_257801 Hey great short story about your car. How did you track it down? am sure you coverd that in a Thead that's another topic i"ll search for it. Thanks for the response. I have a guy here local you said he can do something custom for me. i just wanted to hear from 240z's with original L24. I don't see too many here. Most I've seen is L28 and big CAM. I will Modify at a later date but not right now, I just can't do it. I wanted to hear L24's and what set up they have. I dont't want to get into something that I will be regret. August 24, 200816 yr comment_257806 Go with a 2 1/2 or smaller. Tell him you want aluminized steel. welded at all the seams. Resonator in the middle before the split then some dynomax or whatever your choice of muffler at the end. If you want it louder then scratch the resonator. I have 2 1/2" pipe, a resonator and a muffler and it's plenty loud. IMHO you will be happy if you kept it a single pipe to the end. Instead of splitting it. But you do what you want. August 24, 200816 yr comment_257825 Maybe you would like to consider a stainless steel system. The exhaust photos in my members gallery show a custom fabricated 2.25" dia. Borla-based system with flanged connections for the muffler and resonator. If you want a 2.5" dia. system, I have Borla components for sale in the classified section.Fixitman Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29079-help-with-exhaust-system/#findComment-257825 Share on other sites
August 24, 200816 yr Author comment_257874 Hey Ed, Thanks I kinda like that idea, unfortunately I have to split it, that's the look I am looking for and My body guy already cut the space in the bumper kit. I probably would of gone single if did not already have the bumper (fiberglass) cut out on the right rear side. 2 1/2 with resonator and muffler. I don't want it to loud where I can't enjoy a ride to Orlando or Key West. Fixitman, I also looked at your picture and like it a lot can this be split and still get a good sound. August 24, 200816 yr comment_257876 There are regular contributors to the Classic Zcar Club forums who have experience with split systems. I suggest doing a search for past discussions on this topic.Good luck and show us a few photos when completed.Fixitman Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29079-help-with-exhaust-system/#findComment-257876 Share on other sites

July 12, 200915 yr Author comment_289360 Does anyone has an exhaust setup where it is split at the end on a L24. I will be modifying it or bigger engine in the future, so i will go with a 2 1/2 pipe all the way. please advise.
