Posted August 20, 200816 yr comment_257320 Will that unit work on a 72 240Z?? The reason I'm asking, is the sending unit is supposed to be different on a 74.... August 20, 200816 yr comment_257323 As I recall, there are more wires on the 74 and up units than there are on the earlier ones. You'd have to compare wiring diagrams to see what does what. Even if you get that part figured out I'm not sure the 74 gauge would match up with the 72 sender. August 20, 200816 yr comment_257377 If it doesn't work out for you, I'll take that '74 gas gauge off your hands if it works. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29111-gasamp-dashboard-gauge-from-a-74/#findComment-257377 Share on other sites
August 21, 200816 yr comment_257397 Just ordered and received a new tank sending unit from Nissan #25060-E4100 for an early 74 260 . The sender has 2 wire terminals 1 to gauge and 1 to ground. The gauge in the dash may be dash may be different due to the harness connector Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29111-gasamp-dashboard-gauge-from-a-74/#findComment-257397 Share on other sites
August 21, 200816 yr Author comment_257399 Reason I'm asking, I just got a brand new sending unit from MSA (Same as BEEZEE), same problem with the reading on the dash for the gas..Full (see the gas in the filler neck), reads only 3/4 of a tank.. August 21, 200816 yr comment_257486 I have the same issue; full tank only reflects 3/4 full on the gauge! Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29111-gasamp-dashboard-gauge-from-a-74/#findComment-257486 Share on other sites

August 21, 200816 yr comment_257508 You know, you can adjust the float so that it reads higher or lower by carefully bending the arm in small increments until you reach you desired reading. Bend down if it reads low or up if it reads high. That is, if you are certain that everything else is in proper working order and it"s reading incorrectly. So, Vous n'êtes pas vraiment dans la merde. August 21, 200816 yr comment_257525 Never thought of that, Stephen. Since one cannot open the float while there is a full tank, what would be the best procedure for doing this? Am assuming you might have to do this over a few tanks of gas to get reasonably close.
