Latka Posted August 23, 2008 Share #1 Posted August 23, 2008 (edited) I was referred over here to Classic Z Cars from the JNC - I'm in Hawaii (O'ahu) and contemplating a Hakosuka / Kenmeri purchase in the next year or so (hopefully) - then found out that Miles has one here in Hawaii. Sent him a PM, but it looks like he hasn't been on the board in a few months. Anyone in touch with him? Would love to meet up and see his Hakosuka. I need to find out if my tall butt (6'6"/198cm) actually fits in one before I go too far down the road with this crazy idea. I fit in classic Minis though, so I'm hoping I'll be ok. I don't fit in the 240/260/280Z or I'd already have one. I think it has to do with the sloping roof. Looks like the KGC10 / KGC110 has a bit more room for me. Here's a shot of me with my JDM Mini. A/C and everything. Yes, I'm a giant gorilla and I stuff myself into small cars. First it was CRXs (85 & 86) but I guess those were too big... Thanks in advance, Andy K Kaneohe, HI Edited August 23, 2008 by Latka
Go240Zags Posted August 23, 2008 Share #2 Posted August 23, 2008 Andy, no help with your search, but I was surprised you couldn't fit in a 240Z etc. I too am 6'6", but most of my height is in my legs -- I pretty much sit about the same height as my 6'1 -" 6'3" tall friends. However, in the early Z there is not a heck of a lot of room and if I needed to wear a helmet I'd probably be in trouble. The first gen Zs have spacers that can be removed under the seat -- I wonder if that is the problem. Also have read here that people who put in seats from other cars or more modern aftermarket ones (with thicker cushion/padding) often lose headroom. Anyway, good luck on your search and I hope you will fit in a Hakosuka/Kenmeri it would be a cool car to own.
Latka Posted August 23, 2008 Author Share #3 Posted August 23, 2008 Most of my height is in my torso, unfortunately. I was thinking I might fit into the 240Z 'cause the guy out here is 6'3"... but even with his race seat bolted to the floor and no cushions my head was hitting the roof - and that was without a helmet! My search continues. I'll find something cool eventually.
geezer Posted August 23, 2008 Share #4 Posted August 23, 2008 Hi Andy, I've wondered about the feasability of tastefully modifying the roof on a S30, kind of like they did for Dan Gurney and his GT40, only a concentric design instead of a single bubble. We would have to see a drawing to decide if it would make a Z look too much out of wack. Just thinking out loud here.
