August 24, 200816 yr comment_257851 I doubt that the car pictured is a Datsun/Nissan color. Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29151-looking-for-paint-code/#findComment-257851 Share on other sites
August 24, 200816 yr comment_257878 Hard to tell from the pics, but definitely not an original S30 paint color. Maybe Subaru STi (WR Blue Mica), Viper (GTS Blue), Civic (Fiji Blue or Atomic Blue Metallic), 350Z (Daytona Blue Metallic) or even Lotus (Magnetic Blue)...Sounds like a trip to the paint store is what's needed! August 24, 200816 yr comment_257883 Mine is Fiji Blue Metalic, (1992 Mitsubishi import only) with a little bit more metalic and some pearl. The one shown looks a little darker than mine but then colors can appear a little off on a computer. I'm very pleased with the color. August 25, 200816 yr comment_257890 Sorry...my memory of blue paint names isn't what it used to be...just checked the Honda website, and it's called "Fiji Blue Pearl." They also have a Royal Blue Pearl, but I think it has a little bit of purple or red in the clearcoat, if it's the color I think it is....BTW, Bonzi Lon, that is quite the nice blue on your car...good choice! August 25, 200816 yr comment_257910 If you're looking for a factory color, I have the darkest factory blue I've heard of on an S30. Its Datsun color code 072, a dark blue poly (metallic). Here's a picture that shows one door painted with the color. The headlight bucket is painted color code 903 which is also an early S30 blue metallic. Color code 903 didn't match the color that came on my car originally (you can see the original color is darker on the fender), so I purchased the 072 which is dead on. I would have gone with the 350Z Daytona Blue Metallic if it weren't $600 a gallon. August 25, 200816 yr comment_257926 XRay is correct. Fiju Blue is a Honda color. There isn't any metallic in it. Only a new type of pearl. (It's a little more expensive then most every day pearls.) It does flop in the shade to a slight blue/purple. It's actually a little more blue pearly then the 350Z blue and cost a bit more the Nissan's paint color. When the sun hits it. The color really jumps out BRIGHT blue. I've had my last Z painted that color.Donna Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29151-looking-for-paint-code/#findComment-257926 Share on other sites
August 25, 200816 yr comment_257936 I don't want to argue for arguments sake, but "Honda Fiji Blue Pearl" would be different than "Mitsubishi Fiji Blue Metalic". Each company has their own name, albeit almost the same color and name. The "pearl" and "metalic" make each one different. I know what I saw in the book and I picked what was as close to original, "115 Blue Metalic", as possible and "Painter Ray" tweeked it a little with more metalic and some pearl to come up with what I have, just a little darker. Therefore it would be a different color than either of the ones mentioned above. We called it "Bonzi Blue Metalic Pearl".If you want I can photo the chip, name and number from "Painter Ray's" book and the paint system he uses.Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29151-looking-for-paint-code/#findComment-257936 Share on other sites

August 28, 200816 yr comment_258386 Here are a few more pics, but remember the best way to view a color is in person as the camera and computer can do some strange things. For example the color of my garage doors are darker in the photo than they actually are in person. I leave for Tulsa in about an hour but will get "Painter Ray" on this first thing Monday morning. I will send what info I can on his paint system, and numbers which your painter can "tweek" to make yours darker. like the color you want. In my opinion the photos I post ARE a little darker than seeing the car in person, and it appears different in full sun as opposed to being in the shade. I do know he mixed blue, magenta and silver, then we added metalic and pearl, but will have to talk to him on the amounts of each of the add ins. I've worked side by side with a Graduate Gemologist for 20 years and in his business "Color IS Everything", it is all a combination of the following: Tone, Hue, Saturation, Reflection, Transparent, Translucent, Opaque, full sun, shade, reflected north white light, etc, and a few more I can't recall. Best of luck to you. Bonzi Lon Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29151-looking-for-paint-code/#findComment-258386 Share on other sites
