On my very late 240, roll glass down and slip on, must be tight to stay in place. Note: Clean roller very good before instalation so it won't leave a mark on the window. Experience showed me this.

Rick:

I would presume that the 260 has at least ONE, and more than likely shares the 240's door construction and can accept two.

Shouldn't have to remove glass, the outer SS trim definitely and possibly the door panel (to remove the "whisker" strip).

Other than that, as Bonzi Lon mentioned.

FWIW, I haven't found any of the rollers on several 280Zs in the various JYs that I have been to. I always pull the chrome "wipe" strip to see and the rollers don't appear to have ever been installed. Perhaps they weren't used on the later models. SBlake, you are definitely the 280Z guru...what say you?

Cheers, Mike

Mike;

In the realm of possibilities, it may be that the rollers you did NOT find were simply at the bottom of the doors.

The metal clip and shaft holder is infamous for corroding very quickly and if not, cracking at the cut-out for the tab bend, then cracking off on the other side. (See the above pic posted by Ron/Kinfish.)

When we had a boneyard that only catered to Z's (now defunct...sob!), Gary/Beandip and I scoured that place and found mostly cracked or missing rollers on the doors.

This doesn't mean that the 280 did or did not have that roller, I'll leave it up to Stephen to answer that one. I'm just pointing out that they DO rust/break easily.

Thanks Arne for the link to this thread. The roller on my 240Z is square metal with the roller in the middle. There is no clip. There isn't any rust either. Was there a early version for the 240Z? Thoughts? I will post a photo tomorrow. Is there another place on the door to mount this roller? Thanks for the help.
