For the last 21/2 years I've been building a Hot Rod 240Z for a customer who had the desire and funds to build the car of his dreams and between his ideas, and money and my 45 years experience in the custom car industry,

he and I both think that this is one of the "BADDEST" 240Z's in the country.

It uses an Art Morrison 4 link back half, completely reinforced body, 6 point cage and a motor plate mounted 4-71 Supercharged 350 Chevy, Turbo-350, custom fenderwell headers and a throttle pedal that goes to "WIDE OPEN"

When I was a kid in California they called this thing an "E-Ticket Ride"

Now days we just call it "FUN PER GALLON"

A 240Z has an inline 6, independent rear with half-shafts, etc.

Looking forward to seeing the pics. Without offending, it's good to see guys with all the muscle car and hot rod experience use their skills with the Z. I had a very hard time finding anyone to do the paint and bodywork on my car, and had to settle on a guy who did an OK job, but not what I was hoping for. I took my car to several reputable local resto/classic shops, but they had a "domestics only" vibe that made me strike them off the list.

I hope you enjoyed doing the work, and continue to help out with classic imports as well as domestic muscle and rods/customs.

I'm sure there are plenty (even on these boards) who will appreciate such an endeavor however...

When it comes time for me to build my ultimate Z, it will retain more of what makes the Z ultimate in the first place... including the suspension and engine In other words, a turbo, some lowering springs, and if I could find it one of those neat dohc heads

As a Japanese car distinctly designed to appeal to the American market, it seems that the modding world is most often stuck somewhere between the muscle and JDM spheres (aka old white men, young Asian kids). I've noticed that for many Z owners, the Z is considered an exception to the "Jap is crap" notion... A sentiment alienating them from both camps.

One hell of a ride Bob! I loved the pictures I've seen so far. This car can be in my dreams any night. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Hey Guys, I appreciate the input although I don't agree with all of the opinions I will say that we live in a culture that loves cars and is willing to step out of "THE BOX" of what many would call boring and build stuff that borders on outrageous but hey "is this a great country or what? Sorry if I offended you "PURISTS" but I believe that if a person wants to build something out of the ordinary and has the funds to do so then who am I to tell them how to spend their money especially if they are swilling to spend it with me.

But just to warn you... one of these days, for every bastardized Z I'm going to take a Camaro and swap in a twin turbo Z's suspension and engine to attone for all these years

That will be different and probably pretty cool! Somebody needs to do something out of the ordinary now all you need is somebody with the desire and the money to fund it and I will go so far as to say that I would be willing to build it just to show all of the camaro guy's that there are people out there with open minds and creative ideas!

You should post this over at Hybridz.org - there are more people over there that will appreciate it for what it is. This site leans towards the "purist" mind-set. Awesome work you do there by the way.

No offense intended by my statement about "purists" - I visit three Z-car websites on a daily basis and all three fill a need in the Z community.

While the site is predominantly "purist" minded, there are enough "modified" vehicles here that it is known and generally accepted that it isn't a PURE purist site. Many of us enjoy seeing the "mods" that some people effect, although there are a few that come to mind where we generally cried. (Anyone remember the "Jar-Jar Binks" mobile?)

Don't mind our resident contrarian. Remember Native American Cultures where it was accepted that sometimes some people just simply must take the opposite approach? (See the movie "Little Big Man" and observe the scene where one of the warriors who comes into the camp riding his horse facing backward, jumps off and "washes" with dirt and then "dries" with water.) Well, we have one here. Normally he just wears his AFDB and spouses totally contrary and opposing opinion that most just chuckle at. (Or groan, depending on what gets said.)

Went to your site and didn't find any pictures of the Z you speak of. Might you update us when you do put them up?

I'm glad the OP made the introduction because I went to his website and checked out his work. Suhweet work, too in my own humble opinion. Still couldn't find pics of the Z, but that may be me. Like I said in my original post, having rodders interested in the Z is only good news for maintaining the S30 in the classic car community.

Bob, from a web developer point of view...I just wonder why you have google adverts on your business website. They will most likely serve up adverts for your competition. Are you the one that recieve the money for them, or is your web host/developer pocketing it?

Is the business called "Pro Street Customs" if so why does the banner say "Pro Tour Street Machines" ?

Lose the google ads and rebrand the website with the correct company name.

And do your really need a separate website to advertise that you also do motorbikes? Thats 2 sets of domain names and possibly hosting costs that could be incorporated into one website.

Now show us the 240Z pictures

Yes Mike, in teh interweb, this is known as the "keep it original" Z site and "Hybrid Z" is the "modify it' site. Has been as far back as I can remember. You can tell by the lack of RB Z's and V8 Z's on this site, and the general reaction to modified Z's. You may not have planned for it to be like that, but it's just the way things turned out.

Can't wait to see pictures of this Z. Should be awesome. Here is a link to a video that was posted on Hyrbridz that will make some purist Z owners feel better and wizz off the American Muscle Car Purists!!

Just a couple other comments regarding this thread. I've always found it strange that some people are negative to either keeping your Z stock or modifying your Z. I find myself having to think about what forum to ask my questions in, because I don't want to get ignored or told to post in another forum. Its my Z and I can do whatever I want to it. Just like anybody else can do what they want. As long as they are happy.

Also since I work for Toyota and live in the US...I'm confused!! Should I move to Japan and build Fords but buy Nissans??

PS...Buy Toyota!!!!!
