Posted August 29, 200816 yr comment_258468 Just got the 1973 240 unloaded. This car has been in a basement for years and needs lots of TLC. It was a one owner car with very minimal rust. It has had several repaints as the original owner painted it different colors for each kid that drove it. PO stated it ran fine when parked 6 years ago. Original color is Silver. This is going to be a great project, especially when I get the "Z cave" finished. Here's a few pictures as I found her, hopefully I can get the cobwebs off tomorrow. August 29, 200816 yr comment_258469 It looks like a very good starting point, what are your plans as far as the resto goes? ie: What level are you going to bring it to? August 29, 200816 yr comment_258474 It looks good. The interior is pretty typical for a slightly neglected car. But at least it looks like they managed to keep the rust monster away from it.BTW, is that a 912 I see in your garage in the background? Just asking... August 29, 200816 yr comment_258490 ....I have garage envy. Both contents and space! No more projects for now (The Z, M and wife's van are in a 2 1/2 car garage and my wife's van won't be moved--unfortunately) until our new shop/garage gets built in the next 2-3 years. For now, I'll live vicariously through you! Great find. Hope the mildew isn't harbinger of hidden rust. But, rust can be fixed--uncracked original dashboards trump rusty floors in my book! August 29, 200816 yr comment_258507 Looks like a great car to serve as the basis for a complete refresh or restoration.Once you get the garage done, start looking for some good Package Racking.. at least 6 and better 8' wide by 4'deep, and with at least 5 shelves. That will give you a safe place to put the doors, hood, deck lid, seats, dash, front fenders and other large parts. Check your local Yellow Pages for vendors that carry both new and used Package Racking. It will be one of the best things you buy for the project and your garage.FWIW,Carl B. August 29, 200816 yr Author comment_258549 Dangly.....maybe were long lost brothers. Carl, the package racking is on my list, I'm actually going to look at some used ones this weekend. Bre, She's been here in TN hiding, about 25 miles from Knoxville. I found her by pure chance from talking with a friend who new a friend, who new somebody that had an old car in the basement, etc......We finally hooked up and her she is. August 29, 200816 yr comment_258568 Randy, this car has the appearance of being set aside and forgotten. A good cleaning and systematic inspection will reveal more about her. Seems to be complete and looks to have the makings of a good spare time project.
