In the U.S.A., you are guaranteed the right to have an opinion, and that opinion is yours. No one can refute it with any of their 'facts' as your opinion is in fact, factual. All must respect your opinions, but may not necessarily have the same opinion, hence the phrase "?Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

A hybrid 240Z is no longer a 240Z, IMO. You might like it, and maybe I might think it's nice. The workmanship in the photos I saw looks nice to me, and if it's roadworthy, then that's what really matters in the end.

I don''t like Corvettes either. I'd rather look at a creatively- constructed rat-rod, rusty body and beer-keg fuel can even. That is my opinion, an is factual.

If you're within your rights to insult a new member's car and to spout nonsense about Japanese cars in general without one shred of evidence to back up those statements, then I am within my rights to point out your error.

But you can convince me that you are right and I am wrong if you will cite one piece of independent data that shows that the quality control of Japanese cars has gone DOWN in the last thirty years and not UP. Data means something that you didn't make up, by the way....

I'm curious. Are there ANY products made in the US that are constructed with 100% US parts. Ford used a Mazda drive train in the Probe, Chrysler used transmissions assembled in Mexico. I recently bought a GE cordless home phone that was made in China. I'm sure the list can go on. Sam Walton of WALMART once said that his stores would only sell products made in America. I can't think of the last time I saw the words, Made in America.

Sorry Mike and everyone else but I just can't view that statement as pragmatically as that. Tomohawk, if you would just do that.....state your opinion and move on...but you have a way of alienating anyone that disagrees with you. You ask for advice and then argue with the person that gave it to you...you bring up many inane, obscure, and meaningless points...you are the most 'off topic' person on this site with the exception of those that don't have a good grasp of the language but that's understandable, I could go on and on. California is just below the national average of non-farm manufacturing ranked by total jobs (10% vs. 10.4%) as of 2006 and in heavy manufacturing a lot of companies have (and had) operation in the sate. NUMMI, GM Van Nuys, Boeing, North American, Rockell, Northrup, Kaiser Steel, US Steel, Alcoa, Consolidated, Toyota, Ford, Kelsey Hayes, Norris Wheel, Western Wheel, TRW, Moog, Borg Warner, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, and on and on.

From the 2002 Economic Census you can see the number of manufacturing entities in the state:

Perhaps that's semantics on my part - Harley-Davidson is a good example of an American manufacturing company that is succeeding both in sales and quality product.

Harley sells a specialist product for which there is no substitute, and for which people will pay a premium Actually, that's what US companies should focus on IMO, however that would require cutting (or re-allocating, perhaps) jobs at volume factories.

I'm not suggesting that regions like the midwest should become poor and jobless, the government is responsible for ensuring that this does not happen while at the same time protecting the US' global outlook.

Tomohawk's sentiments are entertainingly left and right wing at the same time :laugh: Economics would truly have brought the world together in a harmonious, singing for world peace fashion if it were not for the fact that some percieve a significant "us" vs. "them" barrier that exists among many, which many others just don't percieve. To some, apparently only the US' version of capitalism can bring value to the US (and the world), any other capitalism is evil.
