September 2, 200816 yr comment_259025 It's a well known fact that the 280Z runs best when it's blowing some blue smoke out. Especially when you floor it. You are like soooo lucky. All the factory racers were always trying to get their engines to blow just the right amount but it was really hard and almost no one ever could do it. I think it's some kind of ancient Japanese secret or legend or something like that. If you wanted to you could probably sell your motor on ebay or Craigslist. I bet if some JDM kinda guy heard about it he would pay top dollar. Dude you have struck it rich. Just don't let that guy who's selling the keys talk you into selling to him. Keep the money to yourself.Steve Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29263-blue-smoke-how-come/#findComment-259025 Share on other sites

September 3, 200816 yr comment_259045 Check to see if your oil is too thick. If so, it's getting pushed out the exhaust manifold and getting all smoky from the heat in your muffler. The simple fix for this is to add water to your engine oil. That'll make it a bit thinner and you'll get much better gas mileage. I swear if you do this right after you fill the tank up, that tank will last a long time! September 3, 200816 yr comment_259047 Let me take a shot at this:Shouldn't you just put the water directly in the gas tank? That way the tank of gas will last even longer because the car won't be using it up. September 3, 200816 yr comment_259048 The fuel is too sour. Put 6 TBS of sugar in your tank to revive it. It will add life to your fuel pump and if you do it right you want ever have to tune it up again! good luck Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29263-blue-smoke-how-come/#findComment-259048 Share on other sites
September 3, 200816 yr comment_259050 We all know that smoke should be gray. What you need to do is find out the luminance of your blue smoke and add equal amounts of red smoke and green smoke. The color Gray has the interesting property of having equal RGB values, with no color tint. So (50,50,50) is a dark Gray, and (200,200,200) is a light Gray. And Gray also has the characteristic that (50,50,50) has a Luminance of 50, and (200,200,200) has a Luminance of 200. September 3, 200816 yr comment_259077 when i went the market today i noticed my zed was blowin some blue smoke out especially when i floor it. i would like to why it is doing this do i need a new motor. To answer your question. Blue smoke is a indicator of oil being burned. If the engine is fully at driving temp. it sounds like worn piston rings. How many miles on the engine? I sent you a PM I apologize for the stupid remarks that were made by others on a seriously asked question.
