September 13, 201014 yr comment_330741 Congrats once again John!Really cool to see so many different cars in the FP mix this year. Wish I coulda been there to see how the 275 A6's would've compared, there's something to be said for an autocross-specific compound for inconsistent conditions, IMHO...Hope I can return to the class next year! (Although XP is a possibility as well at this point.)-Rick Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29285-good-luck-to-the-z-racers-at-the-solo-nationals/?&page=9#findComment-330741 Share on other sites
September 14, 201014 yr comment_330774 Well, I have to say it was a stressful Nationals. First of all I knew Toby was going to be tough not to mention everyone else in the class. When we unloaded the car on Wed. the battery died, then we had a really bad miss in the motor. We started chasing ignition first and replaced the 6 year old spark plugs. Next the starter gave up. Finally we found that the emulsion tubes in the carbs were HIGHLY corroded from old fuel and lack of use. I think she was telling me to drive her rather than leave her in the garage all the time.My BIG BIG thanks go out to Tom Holt for providing me new plugs ( New ones are on there way as soon as I am back from New Jersey this week) and many other FP drivers who pitched in to diagnose the problems and get the ole Z going as she should. That's why I love FP, just a good group of folks. So Rick sorry you could not make the show but, NO XP!!!!! You belong in FP!!! I will post a few vids as soon as I figure out how to edit them down.JT Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29285-good-luck-to-the-z-racers-at-the-solo-nationals/?&page=9#findComment-330774 Share on other sites

October 8, 201014 yr comment_332889 Watching the brake MCs in John's car made me think that running some baffles in the reservoirs might be a good idea. October 8, 201014 yr comment_332911 one question, I have seen brake MC's inside countless racecars, but never thought as to how the hell they got fluid to the brake pedal? Is the fluid just fed to the brake booster in the stock location? how does that work? October 8, 201014 yr comment_332914 The master cylinders are basically in the stock location (they may be reversed depending on the pedal setup) and there's a hose running from the MC fluid inlet to the remote reservoirs. October 8, 201014 yr comment_332915 There is no brake booster. It's a dual master cylinder non boosted setup (3rd reservoir is for clutch). The hoses go directly to the masters. FWIW, your brake booster shouldn't have fluid in it either.http://www.tiltonracing.com/content.php?page=list2&id=4&m=b Link to comment https://www.classiczcars.com/forums/topic/29285-good-luck-to-the-z-racers-at-the-solo-nationals/?&page=9#findComment-332915 Share on other sites
