September 11, 201212 yr comment_401243 Call me slow... but that is "36mm" - and what do you have to do to use them?thanks,Carl B.36mm is the diameter of the shock piston with a larger diameter making the piston and shock more responsive to shaft movement and adjustment. The typical piston diameter for Koni 8610/11 and the Bilstein P30 is 30 to 32mm. For the Bilstein Motorsports 36mm shocks you'll have to cut off the strut tube, press in place, and weld a machined adapter to the spindle/hub casting. The shock body is threaded on to that adapter and becomes the strut itself. The shock body is threaded for the lower spring perch and its small enough in diameter that 2.25" ID spring can be used, saving a bit of weight and making room for wider wheels and tires. September 11, 201212 yr comment_401246 Rick,What diff are you running? It looks like you get an initial push when you get on the gas in a corner. September 11, 201212 yr comment_401260 That is amazing driving! I don't think I have the optical skills to see the cone from the forest of cones nor the track memory skills so it is all the more impressive/magical to see the apexing and path selection. September 11, 201212 yr comment_401261 Rick,What diff are you running? It looks like you get an initial push when you get on the gas in a corner.I do. I've softened up the rear shocks in the past to try to address it but then my corner entry turn-in suffers. I'm running the 300ZX Turbo clutch diff. I rebuilt it with new friction plates about 7 years ago and I think it's a little on the tight side (compared to driving Tom's car) but seems to let me put power down fairly well out of slow corners (other than the push). Certainly something that could be tuned but not something I've tried to play around with yet.
