September 5, 200816 yr Author comment_259387 No idea why it was taken apart so far and as the guy who did it has passed away we will never know.....I can see doing that to a colour change car but what was put on it paint wise is so close to the original and not done very well it makes no sence to me. The only rust I saw was on the top of that frame rail in the picture. To me it looks like it wasn't preped properly before painting and grew over the 35 yrs that it has sat. As to the resolution of the pictures that's my fault. One of the 914 BBS I hang on won't load high res pictures, so I shrink them out of habit. I forget that when you link pictures you don't have to worry about their size. Will take big pics tomorrow. I'm going to look at it again tomorrow (if it stops raining) and will look at the things everyone mentioned (what's there in parts?, bumpers, spark plug wires, engine serial number/plate in engine bay). Jack it up and check underneath. Also I will look at the pedals, if there is wear on the rubber pads it means it was driven a bunch. The son is looking at getting the title and I will run the serial number thru the stolen car data base. Then we will talk price.
