Posted September 7, 200816 yr comment_259557 Where are all the Z's? Fun show, mostly Ford and Chevy. People loved looking at my Z and talking about Zcars. I would love to have some other Zcars to hang out and talk shop. Oh well. September 7, 200816 yr comment_259566 I'm not normally a fan of that green, but anything that nice I can't help but admire. I was quite surprised at my local show in July. Someone actually drug out a Datsun 2000 and I got to chat a bit with him. There is also a nice 280ZX here in Southern Utah with a custom paint job, but I've never met him at the two shows I've seen it at. I feel your pain. September 7, 200816 yr comment_259569 Nice, clean car. Enjoy her. I go to at least 2 different cruise-in nights locally per week. I love cars, talking cars and taking pictures of cars, so it's a natural, and luckily I have the time. So I just love cruise-ins and Shows too. I finally just went to my first all Z Show, the NJ Show a few weeks ago and it was great to be among "family". Usually, out of well over 100 cars in the places I go, I am always the only Z- of any era. Tons of people come by to discuss the one they had and had to sell, or the one that "got away". They usually have the most reverence, it seems for the older Z cars, so I'm glad to be there. Such adulation! I have actually been "chased down" only twice- both by other Z cars, and that's tough because I usually have my foot in it! September 7, 200816 yr comment_259570 Its great that you can enter a clean s30 in a show, with show cars(muscle cars)from america, and you will get some respect. And when you get to the local track day, seems everyone likes to see it run.You get the older car guys saying,I had one of those when I was a kid.Gotta love the z car.... September 7, 200816 yr Author comment_259577 I had an almost 85% success rate. If they looked in the window at my Z they had some past or present relationship with a Z. One guy had a 77 280 in his garage with 34,000 miles. And "Blue 72," I agree with the color, but my green Z was in such good shape at $1,500 I had to buy her. Not many green ones left. So Green she stays. My 72 is blue, and I start working on it this week. September 7, 200816 yr comment_259589 I was at the same show as Poindexter, then a day later at a "general" classic car show. I too had the only Z out of about 400 cars, and I thoroughly enjoyed the looks and comments.See, at the Z show, my car was just another in a crowd. In fact, given the cosmetic condition, mine was even "ho-hum". At the general classic show, my car was unique, and it's present condition did not diminish its cachet.FWIW - your car is quite nice BTW. September 7, 200816 yr Author comment_259613 Your right, that is a good way to look at the whole car show scene in smaller American towns. I really worked hard to get my Z looking good for this show. But it is old with a 10' plus paint job. I live on a farm with 1/4 mile of gravel road and the tires hold little rocks that chip the paint when I hit the gas on the paved roads. But that is the price I'm willing to pay, I drive it as much as possible. The grin factor is sky high every time I head to town. What you can't change ... enjoy what you have.
