Posted September 8, 200816 yr comment_259676 hello, I just got a 280z for three hundred bucks, not runningsome rust through on the rear quarter panels, rockers and front fenders (no rust on the floor and rusty hatch. wiring is an absolute mess, brake lines need flushing and maybe a master cylinder rebuild.anyhow the previous owner said there was a short to the fuel pump, located the fuel pump test the wires and they were fine, pulled the pump tested it and it was dead. installed new fuel pump and bingo! started right up!sounded pretty good for not running for over a year. September 8, 200816 yr comment_259684 so my first question.......(I hate to ask this)what is the best engine oil to use?Ask 10 guys and you will get 10 different answers. These older engines were designed when the lightest oil weight was 10W, so I use 10W-30 Mobil 1 because it is synthenic which is generally superior to conventional oil. September 8, 200816 yr comment_259691 Welcome. Is your car a 78? Is black it's original color? You may have done even better that you think on your purchase. If it's originally black it's a Black Pearl Edition. If the paint code tag is still there on the radiator support, see if it had '638' for the paint code.
