I thought the Mitsubishi Starion was called the Chrysler Conquest, Dodge Conquest, Mitsubishi Colt Starion, and Plymouth Conquest up in those parts. Might have better luck finding wheels using those names.

Glad to hear that everyone is OK. That is exactly why I have a second 72 240-Z to drive - You simply can not replace the Z you've owned for 36 years!!

To bad someone isn't offering an Anti-lock brake upgrade for the old Z's rather than the "big brake" options!! That would be far more useful for most of us...

Suggested Speed Limits are those that are on the orange(yellow) signs when you are coming up to curves or other things that DOT thinks could cause potential trouble. The posted limit is still the white sign/black numbers which will be the maximum speed allowed for that section of roadway. You would issue a citation to that person for driving "too fast for conditions" not actually speeding. Unless you feel sorry for the person who just crashed his car and there was no damage to anyone else's property you can usually get by with not citing the person w/o your Sgt yelling at you.

I am with you on that, Carl. Personally, I have never found a street tire that is more grippy than the brakes already on my S30 cars.

I upgraded to the Toyota dual-piston front calipers on this one a few years ago and I run Yokohama AVS E100 205/50-15. I have locked up the front twice now (the first was a guy not looking when he pulled out of his driveway - no contact).

I recall back in the mid-70s, there was a device that I saw advertised in SCCA magazine called the Safety Braker. It was a mechanical device that sensed when lock-up was about to happen and somehow prevented it. I always wanted to get this put on my Z, but by the time I had enough money to make mods, the product had disappeared. Probably too much liability selling that type of thing - even to racers.

Falken Azenis are about the stickiest street tires you can get IMO. I had them on my S14 silvia and loved them.

Mr. Camoflauge. You are correct. Mitsu sold the Starion TSI and Dodge sold the Conquest TSI. My dad and I have always loved the way those cars look!!! I love the wheels your referring to as well!!

Not insensitive, just thought I would lighten the mood a little and we are all glad no one got hurt.

The Hagerty Insurance adjuster came by my bodyman's shop yesterday afternoon and this was the first time the car was in sunlight since the wreck happened. I still haven't gotten decent pix of all the damage - at least not decent enough for this bunch of Z afficianados.

The late afternoon light was just too much for the auto-exposure control on the camera. I'll get better pix this weekend now that we can start taking parts off the car.

The one that tells it all is the one showing how far back the LF wheel is displaced. On all the others, there's too much shadow. And no, the AR Libre wheels weren't on the car when it happened. The damaged 15" wheel wouldn't hold air so I put on my old 14" Libres to get it on the trailer.

Preliminary estimate is $7400, but I hope we can get it back on the road for under $6000.
